New challenge to Big Brother
25/03/2005
ITV bosses are reportedly planning to go head to head with Big Brother by launching a glamourous new reality TV show featuring celebrities living on a tropical island.
The planned show, Celebrity Love Island will see ten celebrities pampered in the sunshine as producers try to get the castaways in the mood for love, the Mirror reports.
The paper claims that viewers will vote off their least favourite stars in turn until the ultimate celebrity couple is left alone in paradise.
The two-week show will reportedly run over the summer in direct competition with Channel 4's cult reality show Big Brother.
"We're going for the Big Brother audience," admitted ITV1 boss Nigel Pickard.
A further unnamed source told the Mirror: "Viewers will have the choice of watching ten nobodies sitting around in a house in north London or ten celebrities getting it on in the sunshine."
"I know what I'd rather choose."
