Oh this is ridiculous. Why a press conference, what more is there to know?
He's been a very influential person for many people. He's a music legend.
News have always covered big stories like this in the past, such as the death of Elvis and assasination of Lennon.
Its funny how the rose tinted glasses come out when someone has died. He has been nothing and nowhere these last 10 years, quite a laughing stock too and not to mention the trial ... at least Elvis and Lennon died with a good reputation in tact.
Music legend? Probably. Good person? No. Deserving of all this attention? No.
What has being a good person or not got to do with it?
Okay, he has hardly done anything in the last 10 years.
But he was in the media spotlight more this year due to his tour. And he was a music giant. A great. The one musician to have sold the most number of records in our generation. An inspiration to many, with fans going into millions.
No one is saying he is a saint. No one is saying his reputation is in tact.
But he has unfortunately passed away, and many people will mourn, and it will be the talking point of the world for the next few days, and therefore the media are covering it so extensively everywhere around the world.
I suppose its your prerogative if you find the death of a paedophile sad.
Was he actually a paedophile?
I thought he wasn't found guilty in 2005? :conf:

Zac the jury is still out. I personally think he was and money talks volumes. Most celebrities get away with things, even the smaller ones. That trial had imo already concluded before it had even started.

Dunno though, he's still dead :(

Never said I was, I just think the whole thing has been blown out of proportion tbh and being made into a much bigger story than it is. Just because he was found innocent doesn't mean he didn't do it.

Tom you've made your point perfectly clear, to keep re-asserting it is just disrespectful and unnecessary - it's clear that there are a lot of users upset by the news and as such will make exaggerated (angry) responses at you if you carry on like that.

Maybe if there weren't such angry responses which are completely unnecessary anyway I wouldn't keep posting. I'm not even reasserting a point anyway (well not in this thread anyway) I'm just responding to those who are being very OTT and melodramatic about the whole thing.

So sad to hear, the greatest has died, I didn't like his personal life but everybody has to agree he was one of if not the best musician/singer/dancer of the past 50 years. Couldn't believe it when I found out, nearly in tears. Long live the King.

How sweet of her to say that, He was such a living god. RIP MJ
This is our generations Elvis. Enough said. Beyond that, I am not going to glorify the death of someone with obvious childlust. Theirs going to be two really annoying bandwagons over the next week. People desperate to paste jokes from Sickipedia, and people desperate to silence the voice of anybody who is not bowing before Jackson. I belong to neither.

Of course I know what he is saying. But why would that offend you? We are talking about Michael Jackson here. Frankly any post that essentially boil down to "Forget about the child molestation, banging tunes man!!!" deserves to have scorn poured over it, because it's an absolutely retarded thing to say.

I have mixed feelings about Micheal.
He's obviously been up to somethign dodgy, sleeping with children & whatever, he payed some boy's family $25 million not to take him to court, I mean that is seriously messed up. But his music is brilliant, he is legend & he is the king of pop. His music will live on, I'm just so shocked that he is gone.

R.I.P. Micheal Jackson was a very gifted and talented man, he was and will always be the KING OF POP. No one can match his music he has given us from the early Jackson stuff to his great solo work. Thoughts and prayers to his family and children. A true legend leaves behind a great legacey of music videos and wackyness.:angel:

his death is tragic but it aint the most important story in the world. innocent people are being butchered in iran, and we are more worried about MJ? He was a genius and will be missed, but in my opinion the protection of democracy is more important. also, i think some of the pictures that are being spread are appaling. the picture of the body bag and the pcitures of his grieving family are tasteless and shameful. sometimes i think 24 hour news is a curse. they will be told eventually
The winner... could be the last in the world to know about MJ!
John.

I can't believe some people are wanting their refunds already. it's shocking.
There was a guy on the news at Glastonbury, and he was moaning that he had spent so much money (£65) on the ticket and really wanted it back.
How can people be so disrespectful. MJ has just died. At least let him be buried first.

^ That's just shocking!
I was completly shocked when I found out, it's taken a bit of time to actually sink in. May he rest in peace and my thoughts go out to his children, family and his fans. Love him or hate him, he made a huge impact on the music industry and created some of the best music.

I was shocked when I heard.
Michael Jackson was and still is THE most respectable, innovative and brilliant pop artist. His music was diverse, but every bit of it was enjoyable. A very talented singer, dancer and general musician.
Anyone who disrespects him, IMO, is a moron.

TBH.. im not that bothered.
He is no different to Gary Glitter....another big pop icon who has/had a fetish for children.
Jackson may of been a massive pop star etc but he used and abused his fame & fortune to lure impressionable young boys into his bed.
Peops need to get a reality check.
I'm utterly devastated at this news, I am a HUGE mj fan and I have been crying all day. Every one at school is upset. I am SOOOOOOO shocked and sadnenned.

At the end of the day, you have no evidence he did it just as I have no evidence he didn't do it. As far as I'm concerned, he was proven not guilty.
And let's just pay some respect to the man. If you don't like the guy, then simply just don't post in this topic regarding him or his death. It's that simple.

Jade Goody - epitome of everything that's wrong with society. Ignorant, loud, aggressive, un-talented, shameless and pathetic.
Michael Jackson - one of the greatest ever cultural icons, immensely talented and revolutionary, and loved the world over.

Bit weird, yeah. Paedophile, no.
Anyone who keeps asserting that needs to assess their life really, the court found him innocent. By this very logic I can go around wildly claiming people to be paedophiles, just because 'I think they are'.
Ultimately he was and is a legend, so um, bubbah.

I dont think so! There is no reason for them to tell them about MJ's passing. It will cause nothing but pain, and bring the whole house down.
Plus, theyre not supposed to know whats going on, so thats fair enough. The BArrack Obama thing was a historic event, lus they had 2 african american housemates. NOt to mention that its CBB, not quite the same.

Why? Why should people keep their comments to themselves? People sure as hell didn't when Jade Goody died, so wtf would it be any different? The man IMO was a disgusting idiot.
(I was all for keeping my opinions to myself as I do feel sorry for him dying, until I was told I was moronic for not respecting him)
Well it is a bit moronic to not respect him, TBH. He's only just died. The least you can do is show a little respect. If you don't like him, then don't come in to a thread, which is mourning his death. You're entitled to your opinion, but it isn't fair on Michael or his fans to have people calling him this and that just hours after his death. If you had any integrity or emotion, you would understand this.

Michael Jackson was and still is THE most respectable, innovative and brilliant pop artist. His music was diverse, but every bit of it was enjoyable. A very talented singer, dancer and general musician.
Anyone who disrespects him, IMO, is a moron.
Yes, just as anyone who disrespect any other paedophile is a moron.
At the end of the day, you have no evidence he did it just as I have no evidence he didn't do it. As far as I'm concerned, he was proven not guilty.
And let's just pay some respect to the man. If you don't like the guy, then simply just don't post in this topic regarding him or his death. It's that simple.

True. I admit, I shouldn't have called you that earlier, but I was just a bit upset about it all. I don't think Michael would have liked his fans to be rude to others on his behalf, and taking pops at others is just going to fuel more disrespect.

"The L.A. County Coroner just announced Michael Jackson's autopsy has been completed -- but more testing is needed before the official cause of death can be determined.
The coroner said the cause of death was deferred because additional testing -- including toxicology and other tests -- is needed. It will take 4-6 weeks to complete.
There was no trauma to Michael's body and "no indication of foul play" -- but he said Michael had been taking "some prescription medications."
He said Michael was pronounced dead in the emergency room of UCLA. Jackson's body will be released after 6 PM."

The most obvious thing to conclude from that is that the doctor's done something wrong, overdosing him on painkillers or something....idk. I'm really confused.
But we can't expect someone like Micheal Jackson to die in a normal way.

Why did he go missing then?
"When EMTs arrived at Michael Jackson's home yesterday, the medics wanted to pronounce him dead on the scene -- but Michael's personal doctor refused to let them "call it" -- this according to sources close to the situation.
When EMTs arrived there was evidence someone had been performing CPR on Michael for "quite some time." There was evidence of Lidocaine -- an old-school drug that can be used to treat disturbances in the heart's rhythm. Medics took over performing CPR but determined Jackson was lifeless -- and wanted to call the coroner to pick up the body.
We're told Jackson was flat-lined when EMTs arrived.
But our sources say M.J.'s doc demanded EMTs continue performing CPR anyway, and demanded that they take Michael to the hospital.
Once they arrived at UCLA, we're told Jackson's doc continued to personally administer CPR -- even though it was clear Jackson was already gone."

"One question investigators will have for Michael Jackson's personal physician -- did he botch early CPR efforts on the King of Pop?
On the 911 tape obtained by TMZ, one of Jackson's staffers tells the dispatcher that Jackson is "on the bed" and that a "doctor is here." The doctor is Dr. Conrad Murray.
Several EMTs tell us it's odd that a veteran cardiologist like Murray would attempt CPR while Jackson was on a bed.
Common CPR practices call for the patient to be on a hard surface -- because it is difficult to compress the chest on a soft surface. The 911 operator told the staffer to "get him on the floor."
Cops have yet to officially interview Dr. Murray, but this will almost certainly come up."

Or perhaps Michael didn't have the energy or the passion to traul through the grueling procedure of court proceedings? He's not been well for a long time, sometimes it works out easier and cheaper to make a donate rather than drag things out through the courts.

I would also add that if a child of mine had been molested, there would be no way in the world I would accept any amount of money to settle the case. I would want that person brought to justice. Just a thought.....

At the Sree and Marcus comment (before you deleted it), Sree and Marcus haven't just died. Whether it's Michael Jackson, Sree and Marcus, or Aunt Sally from Dublin, when someone dies it's common to be kind and respect their passing. Sure you can lighten the topic (as some fans are in here, by discussing his music, his best times and his acheivements) but disrespecting him through your 'jokes' isn't what many want in this thread.
Anyway.

"A source close to the family of Michael Jackson tells TMZ the family has requested a second autopsy -- and it is currently underway somewhere in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles County Coroner conducted an autopsy on Friday and while he said there was "no indication of foul play," the official cause of death could not be determined."

You think calling somebody a pervert is more disrespectful than making jokes about one of the greatest music legends who is now dead? He has family, friends and fans (including myself and I'm sure many other forum members) who were very saddened by the news. At the end of the day everybody has their opinion and althought I never believe the allagations made against him nobody knew exactly what went on and never will but still I find it very disrespectful that people will post unnecessary, crass jokes on a public forum. Fair enough everybody has their own thoughts and can post what they like but is their need for the jokes which disrespect and offend his legacy, friends, family and fans?

Michael Jackson Tribute Song Exceeds 100,000 Plays
June 26th, 2009 | by Pete Cashmore
A tribute song to Michael Jackson featuring The Game, Chris Brown, Diddy, Usher, Mario Winans, Boyz2Men and other leading artists has resulted in an unprecedented number of downloads today from Box.net, the file sharing site we’ve been tracking for over 3 years.
The song was spread largely through social media: Diddy tweeted the link to his almost 1.3 million Twitter (Twitter) followers, making “Better On The Other Side” the most popular link on Twitter today by far (at the time of writing, it has almost 2000 retweets). While Box.net does not usually disclose its stats, we approached the company and received approval to make the numbers public.
The short of it: the tribute song will exceed 100,000 plays by the end of the day, a remarkable number.

Revealed: Jackson's Last Magazine Cover Shot
One of the final photographs of Michael Jackson, showing the singer with shades and sunken cheeks, has appeared on the cover of the latest edition of Q magazine.
http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s233/BGRAYSHON/boyzoneemptyBIG_450x250-4.jpg
The decision to feature the star on the cover was taken three months ago and the issue was intended to mark the start of the Jackson's London concerts, the editor said.
Photographer John Wright, who snapped the cover image, said he was given just 90 seconds to take Jackson's picture but added that he had been struck by the singer's polite manner.
"I got a call saying Michael Jackson was in London and I could shoot him," said Mr Wright.
"I never thought for a second it would come off, so I was surprised when he did turn up at the office where we were doing the shoot.
"He looked exactly like you'd expect Michael Jackson to look: hair weave, military jacket, shades on inside.
"He was wearing a lot of make-up and he didn't have the healthiest skin that I've ever seen.
"He seemed fairly comfortable in front of the camera, though he wasn't jumping through hoops. I got a minute-and-a-half to shoot him, which is no time at all.
"My abiding memory is how polite he was - forgetting everything that's gone on, if you were his parents, you'd be proud of how you'd brought him up."
Q's editor-in-chief Paul Rees explained that uncanny timing had seen the edition go on sale just two days after the singer's untimely death.
"Work on this issue was completed a fortnight ago and it was printed shortly thereafter," he said.
"When news of Michael Jackson's death broke, it was already being distributed. As such, we have had no opportunity to change any of the editorial content within the issue.
"Such is the risk inherent in producing a monthly magazine - that events may overtake a story that you are committed to."
Mr Rees said that a feature about Jackson's Thriller album would stand as the magazine's tribute to the late star: "It remains a remarkable work by a truly remarkable pop star. We shall not see his like again."

Wow, I didn't realise they'd distributed the issue.... or had they? I have a feeling they've done it for publicity.
Thanks for that Mrluvaluva!
Should be a great issue.

The Jacksons: 'We Can't Describe Our Pain'
Michael Jackson's family has released a statement describing his death as "one of the darkest moments of our lives".
The comments were issued to People magazine by the pop superstar's father Joseph Jackson.
The statement reads: "In one of the darkest moments of our lives we find it hard to find the words appropriate to this sudden tragedy we all had to encounter.
"Our beloved son, brother and father of three children has gone so unexpectedly, in such a tragic way and much too soon.
"It leaves us, his family, speechless and devastated to a point, where communication with the outside world seems almost impossible at times.
"We miss Michael endlessly, our pain cannot be described in words.
"But Michael would not want us to give up now.
"So we want to thank all of his faithful supporters and loyal fans worldwide, you - who Michael loved so much.
"Please do not despair, because Michael will continue to live on in each and every one of you.
"Continue to spread his message, because that is what he would want you to do.
"Carry on, so his legacy will live forever."
Jackson's father added a personal statement focusing on the late singer's three children Prince Michael I, Paris and Prince Michael II.
He said: "My grandchildren are deeply moved by all the love and support you have shown for them and their father, Michael Jackson."
