Omg no we had an assembly (almost) every morning that everybody hated It was where the whole school sat in the main hall and the headteacher would talk about general stuff and sometimes there'd be hymns/prayers (in primary school at least). Soooo boring. A lot of people enjoyed PE in my year but then that's probably cus they were sporty in general, so you probs would still like it

OHHH yes it's all making sense now I've done those bets quite a few times, probably lost a few more than won but such is sports betting. They might have something similar, like +/- sets/legs to be won or less/more 100's scored etc. I'm gonna look into it now

Ahhh I gotcha, probs works like that here too but I have literally no knowledge of anything uni related So you could just change the concentration of it then and like didn't have to stick to one?

Ours was from like 9am-3:30pm, but how on earth did you fit 9 classes into a day? We had 5 hour long ones and the rest of the day was made up of breaks.

Like after school (or sometimes during school hours) assemblies/rallies? Yeah we had stuff like that. PE doesn't sound as good there I'd still like it anyway but maybe that's why a lot of people don't like PE there (from what I read on threads here)? Tbf my school was laid back with it even compared to other US schools from what I know.

Lol you've never made bets with + or - points for the teams? Like the better team has -7.5 points to overcome & the worse team gets +7.5 points in the bet. But either team you pick, say you bet like $10, you'd get somewhere around $9-10 in return if you win. But like the underdog team wouldn't even have to win the game for you to win the bet, as they have +7.5 added to their score in the end. Idk if I'm making any sense

Yup & I don't like change all that much either so I just feel so stuck where I'm at but satisfied with it Idk really how to explain it but people usually have a 'concentration' within their field of study, especially business majors because it's just so broad so you kinda have to go for a certain area of expertise within the major which they call a concentration. A focus I guess, where you take more classes that are geared towards that.

It's so long ago I can barely remember But I'm pretty sure it was like either 8:30 or 8:50 to about 2:45ish? Sounds about right, like 6+ hours. 9 different periods/classes in the day. Was your school similar?

Ahh I get what you mean, I got way too comfortable with the job I was doing before, even though the wage and hours were absolute **** it was 'safe' so I stayed there for ages before moving to London But I'd say as long as hours/wage are fine then you're good. What is concentration? So it's like you studied different sections of it within one whole thing??

That sounds pretty relaxed, we didn't ever get anything like that Ofc you did basketball tho How long were the school days there? Oh and did y'all have assembly?

Yeah like I'd have to spend £10 to even make a few £ (unless I did a double ) And you're soo right they lose really often. Whatdya mean by straight bets?? I've bet on basketball quite a bit, but I'm lost @ that sentence Maybe just tired lol

Omg that sounds SO extra for a school to be doing that @ traveling to a pool Nnnn we did have that stuff too but it really varied a lot and most semesters there were mostly those free periods where basically as long as you were moving you got your attendance/mark for the day But yeah so many people just did the walking while talking to someone. I never passed up an opportunity to play some basketball tho

Ahh I honestly hate those really low odds bets They lose more than you'd expect so what you get back really never feels worth it!

Is there like a way you can make straight bets in darts like basically 1/1 odds? Like say in basketball the better team will have -7.5 points so you can win even money but that team has to win by 8 or more points then.

I think I maybe could have especially because I already had some office experience and my position isn't too complex or anything. Technically I can definitely make a living off of this job especially if I get some kind of promotion/bigger role which I may soon enough but idk, I can be doing a lot better with my degree too. I'm the same, I didn't even know what I wanted to do and really... still don't I figured business-related but my interest was never really in any of it lol, I went from accounting to finance to economics in my 6 years (changed concentration tho, my actual major was always business admin)

Oh that post you made reminded me, I was SO close to betting last night and that's before I had even started drinking

It's darts, the games are later today @ like 6pm ish or something. I know that if I make the bets I'll lose them, yet I know if I don't bet I'll miss out on making a small amount of money. Kind of pointless though anyway cus the odds are really ****ty, 4/11 and 2/7

Do you think you could have gotten your job without that degree though? Office/admin would have been my #1 choice for work when I was leaving school, but I didn't realise you actually need some sort of experience (difficult to get it in the first place lol). Did you have anything in mind when choosing your degree originally? Pretty much the only reason I never wanted to go to college/uni was cus I had no clue what I wanted to do/didn't care

We didn't either, we used to either walk or take a minibus to a swimming pool which was like half an hour walk away or something That was legit the best part of it. Wow really??? That's so surprising to me, we had like specific lessons/different things we had to do within the subject of PE (netball/hockey, gym/swimming, cross country, badminton) all of which depended on weather/time of year. My best friend & I hated PE though so if we'd had that we would have literally just used it to walk around & talk for an hour

Not at all like I work in a business but it's only an assistant job and it's related more to a lot of general stuff/accounting/etc. but I graduated business administration with a concentration in Economics which is nothing like my job/role rn I barely know where to start looking / don't know what profession I even really wanna do after this.

Ahh I wouldn't have minded swimming but we didn't have a pool in our gym/school. I mean I only very occasionally swim for years now but I did use to like it. For my gym/PE class, after stretches & small exercises at the beginning of class, it was just a free period to play basketball etc. so often, unless we were doing a group organized sport or the mat/weights related exercises you mentioned but that happened like only every couple weeks. It was soooo chill, a lot of people liked to just walk around the gym the whole class which was allowed.
