He was something outrageous like 1/16 odds-on with Skybet yesterday. Not just fave, a foregone conclusion in the minds of the bookies.

bbfan1991 16-04-2010 10:54 AM

The papers make me laugh with their obsession of Rooney to Madrid speculation:rolleyes:.. Rooney has said before he would never go there time and time again why can't they just accept it:D.

30stone 16-04-2010 11:16 AM

Rooney will win for sure..

Hes english, everyone wants him to get us the world cup given his current form..
He will win no doubt.

Fabregas for young player of the year... hes been the best by far out of the nominees for me makes the biggest difference.

One thing that annoys me about Arsenal is how the players try and walk the ball into the net especially when they create lots of chances;).

WBA snub promotion party:(, at least the preparations for next season are underway:D.

30stone 16-04-2010 02:41 PM

I hate how they dont play forward balls on the 18 yard line when the defence is tight its not very good..

Gunners defence does need sorting out.. at least you haven't had to play half the season with it injured though;). Ray Parlour reckons Arsenal need at least 2 more centre backs where that is concerned and to work on it.

Paul Scholes signs one year deal with Manchester United:).

Barclays Capital is to advise Liverpool on the sale of the club and Martin Broughton has been appointed as a new chairman at Anfield.

The debt-ridden Reds have been shrouded in uncertainty regarding the future of controversial co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett for the majority of the season, with reports linking numerous parties with a potential bid for the Premier League outfit.

Manager Rafa Benitez's status has been clouded by the financial insecurity on Merseyside and he has repeatedly been linked with a summer move to Serie A giants Juventus.

But the news that Barclays Capital and British Airways chairman Broughton have been brought in has been accompanied by an announcement from Hicks and Gillett that they want to sell.

A statement on Liverpool's official website read: "Following numerous expressions of interest from third parties, the club has engaged Barclays Capital to advise on the sale process. The club has the full support of its existing bankers for this process and has financing in place which will fully support the club's operations.

"Mr. Broughton, currently chairman of British Airways PLC and deputy president of the Confederation of British Industry, will work alongside the club's existing management team of Managing Director Christian Purslow, Commercial Director Ian Ayre and Financial Director Philip Nash."

Distinguished
Hicks and Gillett said in a statement: "Owning Liverpool football club over these past three years has been a rewarding and exciting experience for us and our families.

"Having grown the club this far we have now decided together to look to sell the club to owners committed to take the club through its next level of growth and development.

"We are delighted that Martin Broughton has agreed to take the position of chairman, working alongside the club's excellent senior management team.

"Martin is a distinguished business leader of excellent judgment and with a great reputation. He is a genuine football supporter and will seek to oversee the sales process in the best interests of the club and its supporters."

Broughton said in a statement: "I am excited and honoured to be taking up this position.

"Liverpool is a great club with a fantastic history. I will run this sale process in the right way, for the benefit of the club and its fans.

"Liverpool is one of the world's greatest clubs and my aim is to try and ensure that we find new owners who are able to build on the club's recent improved financial performance in order to help deliver sporting success."

Good news for fans of Liverpool then:p.

bbfan1991 16-04-2010 05:14 PM

Good news too that WBA will be doing quite a bit of transfer activity in the summer:).

Claymores 17-04-2010 06:36 AM

Arsenal were effed for the Championship as soon as Song got injured....after African Nations he became great, and could hold any midfield to allow the Arsene style of attack.

Champions League proved how poor the Premiership has become..........2nd rate and can't even make semi-finals

30stone 17-04-2010 12:17 PM

Man united playing with rooney will be a boost for them..

30stone 17-04-2010 12:21 PM

Rooney 18 more games.
Torres 11 more games.
Drogba 17 more games.

Than Van Persie.
Wonder what would happen if we did have him..

King Gizzard 17-04-2010 01:44 PM

take that tevez you little wanker!

30stone 17-04-2010 01:45 PM

**** sake!

The one time i want city to win and they turn ****.

bbfan1991 17-04-2010 01:55 PM

Thanks Scholesy:D, never give in mentality has got us the points.. City played really well second half but United better in the first overall with me being biased United were the better side.

Come on Spurs later!, my instict is telling me it will be an away win though:(.

setanta 17-04-2010 02:18 PM

Scholes - what a player. I'd given up on him prior to Xmas but he's put in some excellent performances since then. Didn't see us getting a goal from anywhere in that second half. When Berbatov came on I thought we were finished.

setanta 17-04-2010 09:19 PM

Now that it's close in the title race, do you honestly think that Liverpool will want to beat Chelsea when they meet?

30stone 17-04-2010 11:31 PM

Reading 6 - 0 win..

:) fantastic.

We cant go up but if we continue..hopefully next season we will.

setanta 18-04-2010 01:20 PM

Shane scored again. Happy days.

King Gizzard 18-04-2010 02:20 PM

THIS is the moment soccer star Jermain Defoe was caught with a young woman performing a sex act on him in a car as children played nearby.

The Spurs and England striker - who has boasted of being "the best role model I can" - risks jail after his obscene behaviour with the 20-year-old in a public street.

The photographer said: "Defoe was completely brazen. It was obvious what was going on."

DEFOE: Celebrating goal yesterday The seedy incident happened on Tuesday night, just 24 hours before his team's vital match against rivals Arsenal.

Defoe, 27, who scored against Chelsea yesterday despite tweaking his groin in training on Friday, was spotted leaving his mansion in Cuffley, Herts, on foot wearing a hoody at 8pm.

The player, who was recently linked to 22-year-old model Roxy Townsend, went straight to a blue Toyota RAV4 parked just 50 yards away.

Once inside he motioned to the red-head to drive to a nearby cul-de-sac of luxury homes where she again parked.

With a gaggle of children aged around seven or eight playing 100 yards away, the couple climbed into the back of the car.

The photographer said: "It was still light and anyone passing could see what they were up to. They chatted for only a few minutes before the girl disappeared from view.

"You could then see her head move up and down. It was clear what they were doing and clear the girl had come to meet him for only one purpose. He looked like he was enjoying himself."

While the sex act was being performed, two individuals and a family walked past the car. By the time Defoe and the girl, who we are not naming, were snapped it was 8.35pm and dark but the car was close to a street light. The shocked girl at first tried to hide in the footwell of the rear passenger seat while Defoe shielded his eyes.

Our witness went on: "It was only when they were rumbled that they stopped what they were doing and broke off.

"Defoe got out and casually walked home as if nothing had happened. The girl sat in the car for five more minutes before she drove off looking quite upset."

Last night neighbours were shocked that the £60,000-a-week star could behave so disgustingly in such a public spot. One young mum, whose house is near where the car was parked, said the footballer was known for cruising around looking for girls.

She said: "This is disgraceful. He's got a reputation around here for picking up girls but you don't expect this type of behaviour on your own doorstep."

And an elderly neighbour said: "What they do with girls is up to them but they should do it in the privacy of their homes."

Defoe - who was substituted in the 77th minute during his sides' 2-1 win - could still face police action over the incident for outraging public decency. The offence carries a maximum six months' jail or a £5,000 fine.

By law no one needs to actually see the act being committed but two or more people must be "capable" of seeing it.

It was only in February that Defoe said: "Footballers have to be aware they are role models for kids. I want to be the best role model I can."

He has dated a string of celeb beauties including Danielle Lloyd.

:laugh2:, naughty Defoe.

Mark 18-04-2010 04:03 PM

King Gizzard 18-04-2010 04:17 PM
