Ajax will be forced to sell a host of their top stars this summer, according to former youth team coach Arnold Muhren. The Amsterdam side’s poor financial situation looks certain to force the sale of Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, Dutch number one Maarten Stekelenburg and right-back Gregory van der Wiel; a situation which looks likely to precipitate the departure of Martin Jol to Fulham. (Sport.co.uk)
Arsene Wenger may well be monitoring the situation at the Dutch giants. With Martin Jol set to leave to join Fulham there could be something of a vacuum at the club and all three of the players named by this source could be of interest to the Emirates boss. The Gunners manager has already been strongly linked with a move for right back Gregory van der Wiel who is also being courted by Bayern Munich. The youngster impressed at the World Cup and seems certain to leave the Eredivisie as he looks to make a step up the footballing ladder. Luis Suarez is another player who has at one time been a target of the north London club however perhaps the need for another striker is not that great as Marouane Chamakh has made his way to Arsenal. That being said the Uruguayan goal machine could be available on the cheap as the Amsterdam club are in significant financial dire straits. |
Aurelio left... Insua is leaving. So no we don't have a left back that could play in the first team regularly.
Agger can play at left back but would rather have him in the center. We've been linked with a few players though.. Taiwo from Marseille, Figueroa from Wigan, Konchesky from Fulham. |
Taiwo is very highly rated.
The other 2 are not the best but still okay. Taiwo would be expensive i think. |
Joe Cole released by Chelsea because he wasn't good enough, never even got into England's Poor starting XI.. scored 2 goals in 38 games last year
Well done Liverpool |

He left Chelsea because they couldn't agree on contract terms. The whole country were wanting Cole to be played more at the world cup. Most his games last seasons were as substitutes.
Carly Zucker will be moving to Liverpool with him :) |
He left Chelsea because obviously they told him he was **** and they wanted him to move on... The excuse from him and them to make sure he went gracefully was that they couldn't agree contract terms

I can't wait for the season to start, forget the ****ing World Cup, the real stuff starts on August 7th.

The world cup was great because it meant that we didnt actually have much time without football.
And the transfer market is now heating up because there is less time. So its all good. Roll on the euro's. |

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp wants to do a bargain deal for Manchester City’s Craig Bellamy – after backing out of the Joe Cole chase.
Redknapp is keen to land long-term target Bellamy and hopes City will let him go on the cheap, possibly as little as £3 million, after replacing him with Spanish star David Silva. Canny Redknapp thinks Bellamy would be perfect for his squad as he chases glory on the domestic and Champions League front – and he would ideally like him signed in time for the qualifiers for Europe. Bellamy would have a better chance of a regular game at White Hart Lane as City boss Roberto Mancini seems set to pick Silva ahead of him – a squad rotation open that the Welshman may not fancy. |
Former Arsenal target Loic Remy appears set to sign for Liverpool after the Reds had reached an agreement with French side Nice for his transfer fee, according to online reports.
The French striker has long been compared to Thierry Henry and the 23 year old is excited about joining the Merseysiders. Pending medical tests; a fee of £12.5m has been agreed upon. Liverpool it now seems have beaten both Spurs and the Hammers whose directors flew to France earlier for the purpose of landing Remy, but the player has made his choice and it was not in favour of either of the London clubs. “Liverpool is a legendary club,” said Remy talking to Nice Matin. “I am very excited by the thought of playing there. It has a magnificent stadium and a fantastic public.” Remy’s agent Frederic Guerra confirmed the news talking to Sky Sports: “Yes, Liverpool are interested in Loic and Loic is interested in Liverpool”. Joe Cole 'snubbed Arsenal transfer for extra £10k a week with Liverpool'
New Liverpool signing Joe Cole rejected a move to Arsenal - and Champions League football - for the sake of an extra £10,000 a week in wages and an additional year on his contract, it has emerged. The England international had been the subject of speculation linking him with both Arsenal and Tottenham after he became available on a free transfer following his release by Chelsea. However, Cole's decision to join Liverpool raised eyebrows - especially after comments from his agent David Giess earlier in the transfer window that "continuing to play in the Champions League is high on his priorities". In addition to the lure of Europe's top club competition, with Liverpool in the Europa League, the 28-year-old had been tipped to stay in London because wife Carly Zucker had recently given birth to the couple's first child, and was not keen to leave the capital. However, Metro has learned that Cole demanded at least a four-year contract at Anfield, and was adamant he needed the stability of a longer deal to make the move to Merseyside. And it seems the issue of salary was also a major factor in negotiations, with Cole turning down £80,000 a week over two years to move to the Emirates Stadium. Spurs' offer is thought to have been in the region of £65,000 a week over three years, with the sweetener of a substantial signing-on fee. Liverpool paying him 90k a week until he's 32. Have to say i have lost a little respect for him, greed, like gareth barry when he signed for city.. |
