Oh Fangz! That's terrible! I guess in your situation I'd try and make Lucifer feel better. :bawling:

Red Moon 31-12-2005 10:56 AM

Good luck to you and your cat.

Hope everything goes well and keep us informed.

RED

Z 31-12-2005 10:59 AM

Yeah, do keep us posted Fangz :spin2:

Fangz 31-12-2005 11:01 AM

Thanks, I'm feeling more positive than I did when I started this thread. Luce is only a year old, and is in otherwise good health, so the operation shouldn't be too stressful, and ther're no signs of the infection spreading up the foot and leg.

texbex 31-12-2005 12:44 PM

Awwww dont worry even if the tablets dont work and it gets amputated your cat will live thru it sure it will feel pain but think it wont have to suffer

Dan_ 31-12-2005 01:30 PM

Hope all goes well with his op Fangz.

Fangz 03-01-2006 12:45 PM

Luce is at the vet's, coming round from the anaesthetic.
The vet is fairly sure that his lumps aren't an allergic reaction to the antibiotics, so blood and tissue samples have been taken, and some of them are being sent to a specialist in England, where they will be tested for several different conditions, including feline AIDS. The testing alone is going to cost over £200.

Lucifer is also being tested for ringworm, as three small bald patches have recently appeared on his head. Matt (the vet) is very worried about Lucifer, and so am I. There is no other cat quite like my Luce. :(

~Kizwiz~ 03-01-2006 12:48 PM

Oh Fizz, I hope everything goes well and will be thinking of little Luce.

Fangz 03-01-2006 12:52 PM

Thanks, kiz. I've been looking up feline AIDS on the internet, and the effects it has on cats really aren't pretty, to say the least. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the lumps have been caused by something much less serious. Matt has already ruled out cancer, as the lumps all appeared at once, and it's very rare in young cats.

~Kizwiz~ 03-01-2006 12:53 PM

I'm sure he will pull through honey

Fangz 03-01-2006 12:59 PM

Thanks, I'm just so worried. The results from the tests won't be back for a few weeks, and I'll go mad with worry waiting to see if Luce is going to be okay.
In the meantime, you can bet he'll be spoiled rotten.

~Kizwiz~ 03-01-2006 01:06 PM

Just remember that they are very resilient creatures.
I had a cat that was run over and broke her pelvis. That healed very well but she was left with slight brain demage and epilepsy. We had to give her valium to calm her down so she didnt fit. This may sound cruel but she was fine for many many years after.
She even went missing for 2 weeks. We found her after making an apeal in the local paper. She had coped without her medication for all that time. She never needed it again and didnt fit at all

Not funny. God, you're insensitive, aren't you? I love my cat and he's being tested for ****ing AIDS, there's nothing I can do, and you want to make ****ing jokes about it!

SMC 03-01-2006 01:29 PM

Exactly. You don't care about my cat SMC, but I do. I can't stand the thought of losing him. If you posted about your pet being ill, I doubt anyone on the forum would joke about it, as they would realize how hurtful that would be.

Sunny_01 03-01-2006 01:36 PM

Fizz, I hope that Lucifer is feeling a bit better now - what time do you pick him up today? He will be walking like he is drunk when you do bless him! the anisthetic makes them groggy for a day or so.

Hope that the results come back quickly and that it is nothing to worry about, I will keeping checking in to see how he is doing x

Fangz 03-01-2006 01:39 PM

The receptionist is going to ring my mum's mobile when he is ready to be picked up. He's been under general anaesthetic before, (after wounding himself on barbed wire) and I remember him weaving all over the place when he went to the food bowl.

Corkie 03-01-2006 01:47 PM

well i hope he gets better soon

Fangz 03-01-2006 01:47 PM

Thanks corks.

Jay 03-01-2006 01:50 PM

Yeah i hope he gets better soon to

sol 03-01-2006 01:56 PM

Im sure he'll be fine Fangz - i must admit though, this feline Aids thing sounds pretty nasty, can it be transfered from human to cat and vice versa? make sure you put your safety 1st though if that is possible Fangz
SMC show some respect...

Fangz 03-01-2006 06:04 PM

Feline AIDS can't be spread to humans by cats, though it can be transferred to other cats through blood and saliva.
Lucifer is back home now, but he's sulking cos his leg is wrapped up in a big, cumbersome bandage, and he's got a collar on to stop him chewing it.

Red Moon 03-01-2006 06:07 PM

I hope Lucifer recovers quickly Fangz.

Thanks for the update.
