Drinking alcohol reveals extreme feelings/emotions, which is not exactly the same as real feelings.

I don't think it reveals "the real you" I've often woke up thinking "I was talking some s**t last night" I think it definitely changes the way you think

Benjamin 07-06-2011 12:26 PM

I don't know. Sometimes it brings out elements of the real me, but then on other occasions it changes me. It depends on what I have been drinking.

CharlieO 07-06-2011 12:30 PM

It brings out things you wouldn't usually say or do because you suppress it.
So the question is:
Is 'yourself' defined by just the things you do? or the things you choose not to do as well?

I think your choices in soberness make up a part of you so therefore I believe it changes you.

I think it makes you let go of your inhibitions a bit but I don't think it reveals the true you. I couldn't talk from personal experiences though as I've never been drunk.

Everyone can act stupid when drunk, but if drink always makes you unhinged or aggressive (like it does a lot of English people), then the chances are you have other issues than just overconsuming alcohol. So yes, I think it reveals much of the real you.

seanraff07 08-06-2011 06:17 PM

I just become more happy when drunk, and I start to mumble a lot when I talk :joker:

Lee. 08-06-2011 06:26 PM

Drinking a lot makes me talk non stop about absolutely nothing, swear like a trooper, sing annoyingly loud in peoples ears and then when its too much effort to talk any more, I grin insanely for the rest of the night... so no, I don't think that is the real me. I'm actually quite reserved and quiet in company. I iz a laydeee innit?

Pyramid* 08-06-2011 06:39 PM

I get incredibly chatty and blether away to anyone and everyone - especially strangers - something that is the complete opposite to me in real life. (Hard to believe but when I'm sober and in unknown company - I take a back seat and become a people watcher). When I've got the demon drink: I'll talk to the devil.

Then when I've had took much - I need my bed. No faffing about, soon as I hit that stage, I'm outta there and straight home.

lostalex 14-06-2011 02:49 AM

When i'm drunk i just talk bullsh!t and try to get a reaction out of people. In my experience drunk people only talk BS, they don't "tell the truth about themselves" or anything like that. They just get loud and say things for attention.

Anyone who takes what a drunk person says seriously is an idiot. Don't over analyze it.
