The contract is 2 years and Endemol only actually have the house until 2013, I don't see how Channel 5 could force them to continue it until 2015 is Endemol were against the idea

Wow detailed reply. Do you actually have any details of the contract, I've only ever seen Channel 5 confirm that it is for 2 years

It is no more successful than the last few series on 4 and the only slight rise I'd because of giving it a chance on a new channel (remember this is cbb not normal BB), it has gained no substantial amount of new viewers and is therefore a sinking ship. I am willing to bet BB12 rating will drop rapidly and I will admit i was wrong if it doesn't but I doubt it will.

Endemol can't stop doing BB before 2015 if C5 pick up the option unless Endemol buy them out of the contract.

The 5 year deal was just speculation before the official announcement of 2 years

Whether or not ITV buy Endemol it will have no impact on Big Brother at all. ITV make plenty of shows for other channels. If anything it boosts comeback chances on ITV2 if Channel 5 decide they dont want it anymore

Yeah I thought that was the case

MTVN 30-08-2011 06:22 PM

The first link was an unconfirmed report before the deal had been completed, the second only refers to it as a 2 year deal not a 5 year one

Also in Channel 5's official confirmation of the deal it is only a two year contract mentioned - http://www.channel5.com/articles/big...s-to-channel-5

Lol you've now removed that second link

It was on March 31st before the official announcement

Nowhere does it say anything about 2 years and optional 3 years

Channel 5 won't want it after next year, they're only using it to get a new audience watching C5. They have zero commitment to it and long term viewer interest just isn't there anymore

Media Guardian announced the deal before C5, they had inside info:

Err why have you just reposted that link, how the hell does that prove your point, the article says:

Quote:

Big Brother will be back on the small screen this summer after Richard Desmond's Channel 5 finally concluded eight months of negotiations to buy the format from Endemol in a two-year £200m deal.
Nowhere does it make mention of a 5 year deal

Although that link also clearly didn't know all the details anyway as it says the program will start in 2012

I'm not sure what you're not getting about this; it us a 2 year deal they have and you have no reliable sources that contradict that

"Only in 2012, would Big Brother return to its traditional schedule"

But the second article is an updated version of the first article. The first article is just speculation, the second was more official with more solid info. If it was a 5 year deal it would have said in the second article

All original schedule means is that it will air in January/June next year not that it will stay like that for another 4 years

Based on what? It's just the same 2.5 million who watched BB10 who are watching this. It's a great rating for Channel 5 but it's the most underperforming Big Brother in history. It had far more hype than BB10 and the draw of celebrities and the fancy new production yet it's getting the exact same figures.

Unless your suggesting we continue to blame it on the channel? I don't buy that. People know Big Brother is on Channel 5 and they know how to use a remote.

A great coup for the channel but calling it the most successful Big Brother since 2008 is insane. And CBB7 rated higher than BB9, by the way. Bias getting in the way of facts and all that.

It's just another show now. One that's doing very well for it's home.

Oh Jesus are you intentionally completely missing the obvious to avoid admitting you were wrong?

I don't know how to make it clearer; the first link is to an article written before the deal was done

Since the deal was completed every single source has confirmed it to be a 2 year deal

Comprende?

aha...but at the time the OP put up this thread, was the other thread on the first 3 pages on the main board!!!!! ;)

the forum is quieter than a graveyard - even with CBB on - I'm not sure it's a real big issue, all things considered!!

MTVN 04-09-2011 09:48 AM

I've merged the two threads, yeah the other one was probably 2 or 3 pages back but then I dont think there's much point discussing the same thing twice in two different threads
