I have to agree with you arista, this would be a crazy move, not one I would support.

BBfanUSA 28-05-2013 04:05 PM

Even though this is bad. I don't see a world war coming out of this mess

Sure but those weapons could return
into the wrong people hands
to Attack Americans, French and British, later.

Also this is like going to War with Russia
who will supply arms to the Leader of Syria.

That is Crazy.

"The US has said it will provide military support
to the Syrian rebels after confirming it believes
there is concrete evidence of nerve gas attacks
by government forces against rebel groups."

So the American will give small guns & rifles to the Rebals
and that includes Al-Qaeda.

They Never Ever Learn.

Its to little to Late.

Nedusa 14-06-2013 06:42 AM

President Obama has agreed to send small arms to the rebels in Syria, just small arms nothing else so this is really not much of anything. Just more rhetoric which will do nothing on the ground. The west are worried if the situation on the ground doesn't shift their way then any peace conference in the future will be so one sided for Assad that it will be a waste of time.

The West have lost control of this situation and are heavily on the back foot in Syria. With Russia arming Assad and Iran directing Hezbollah the current regime is slowly pushing these rebels out of Syria.

I have to say this situation is probably the scariest conflict I have seen for many years as all the major players are involved and this has the potential to escalate into a major international crises the like the world has not seen for many years...!!!

SharkAttack 14-06-2013 07:30 AM

Maybe our countries' top people think they can help the rebels take control, and the rebels will be easier to control after? What is Russia's endgame? And Iran's? I don't like any of this.

Nedusa 14-06-2013 07:39 AM

I heard that in Iran's elections today the Ayatollahs are pinning their support on a hard line contender that would make Ahmadinejad look like a liberal reformer.

2 Tribes (Sunni Vs Shia)
They support only the Leader of Syria

Not scatty rebal groups like your President does

MTVN 14-06-2013 11:25 AM

Yesterday the Syrian rebels were reported to have carried out a sectarian massacre, today the US declares it's arming them

Crazy..

Novo 14-06-2013 11:26 AM

I think President Putin is the real peacekeeper in all of this, the quicker those anti aircraft missles get to Syria the better.

the truth 14-06-2013 05:10 PM

INSANITY

why are we world police again? why cant we be back seat drivers? why not let the united nations take charge? as they did in lybia to get rid of ghadaffi?
Imagine there are 1000 people in your town centre smashing each other to bits, then you walked into the middle of it and handed out a load of grenades and bazookas to half of them? will that make the situation better or worse?

why is hague so obsessed with hyping up this situation and why does he seem hell bent on arming the rebels? especially in Syria? where is the negotiation? discussion with the political leaders? exactly when do we actually start to learn from our endless disastrous interventions in incredibly complex situations we can barely understand and have no chance of controlling

The only beginning to this solution is for all parties to get around a table asap....perhaps even some kind of power sharing government can be formed.

arista 14-06-2013 06:20 PM

"why not let the united nations take charge?"

Because they are to small now
and stuck in the Congo.

Its USA Vs Russia

Russia wins

lostalex 14-06-2013 10:57 PM

Russia wins? lol. Your even dumber than you look if you believe that Arista. Russia lost 30 years ago and they haven't made any progress since.

Let's also remember that's it's been EUROPE not the USA that has been pressing for support for the Syrian rebels.

If anyone deserves credit for this announcement it's Europe, and France and the UK in specific. If anyone is the poodle in this situation, it's the USA, because France and the UK are too pathetic to even be capable of doing any military operations on their own, they are totally reliant on the USA to do anything militarily and they have been pressing the USA to get involved in Syria for months now. Just like they did with Libya.

If it were up to me, we';d tell Europe to go **** themselves, especially france and UK, and be done with the middle east. The middle east is Europes back yard, it's their responsibility. ****ing TYPICAL that they are dragging us into ANOTHER one of their wars.

arista 15-06-2013 06:30 AM

Russia will win as they
Supply Air support massive weapons to Syria

America can not stop that

lostalex 15-06-2013 07:22 AM

As far as i'm concerned, I wish america would just say **** the middle east, pull all the troops out from every country in the middle east, and let them kill each other all they like. I want nothing to do with it.

I'm so ****ing sick of it all.

Let Russia and China and Iran run the middle east. **** them. It's Europe and China that get most of the oil from the middle east anyway, America needs to let Europe finally start fighting it's own wars. We've been protecting Europe since WW2, it's time they started standing on their own 2 feet.

joeysteele 15-06-2013 07:26 AM

Hate to say it but I agreed with George Galloway on QT as to this that the so called rebel forces should not get armed by the UK particularly.
I am surprised to say the least at the USA now getting involved at all,it seemed President Obama was very reluctant to do so.

I am against any UK involvement and I do feel our Foreign Secretary William Hague has followd the wrong path as to this all along.
We have hardly any idea as to the real make up of these so called rebel forces anyway and we should keep firmly out of this one.
As should Europe too in my view.

lostalex 15-06-2013 07:53 AM

The EU should create it's own defense force, so they stop relying on the US. we all know the French and British have been pressuring America to get involved for MONTHS now.

George Galloway? the same george galloway who said having sex with an unconscious woman isn't RAPE, it's just "bad sexual etiquette"

George Galloway is a pathetic old bigot.

"bad sexual etiquette" what a pathetic old piece of **** he is.
