I agree with this logic, I watched someone control my PC cos I kicked up a fuss about how difficult it was to download something. They were moving the mouse etc, but I could too, I'd imagine the connection would have been lost if I turned off wifi or the entire computer

Who told you not to turn it off adam?

I know this doesnt solve your problem, but it might give them one..

When you turn it back on they could still have access though

Adam you really need to do whats written on that link...

Ronald. 16-02-2017 02:28 PM

Whenever I mess something up I just turn it off and hope it goes away. This sounds more complicated though. Hope you solve your problem! R.

What do you think they want with the PC? I'd imagine they just changed the password in the hope that Adam would pay for it back, am I thinking too innocently?

Really depends tbh. Usually they just want cash to 'unlock' it but if they have remote access the possibilities are endless. All files saved on the comp will be theirs. IIRC depending how long they have had access they could creata a 'backdoor' which will allow them access at any stage in the future (though not sure if thats only webpages, or actual computers). Will have access to any saved passwords..and so on

Lol literally this same exact thing happened to my aunt, I think exactly a week ago. She says she's on the phone with Microsoft because she got hacked... so I go look at her computer and someone is controlling the mouse on the other end with the scam popup on the screen & phone number on it and a notepad document "form" for her to put all her information in so that they can "help". :joker: I just turned off the computer (struggled to because the guy on the other end also had control of the mouse - dude was angry as ***** on the phone) but then the problem was also the same as you; couldn't get back on because the password was changed or something. Messy situation.

She went to get it fixed a day or two later but she didn't have any important info on there anyway apparently.

Oh and apparently they asked if she buys stuff online and stuff like that... Idk how you wouldn't realize this was a scam while on the phone with them? Microsoft asks these questions now? :joker:

Is that free? AVG has been annoying me recently. It sends me promos in different languages. (Tbf, thinking about it right this second, maybe I selected a different language when they asked lol).
