I personally believe that SOME racists DO gravitate to jobs such as the Police or Prison Officers - both in the USA and here, but they ARE in a tiny minority and MOST cops are decent people doing a thankless job under extremely dangerous conditions.

In my opinion anyway.

:clap1: Absolutely agree, kirk. Police work must be one of the most difficult jobs in the world, and particularly in American society. They have my respect.

Just as in all walks of life, there are good and bad people, as well as people who will make mistakes, but these are the exceptions rather than the rule.

Just awful. Regardless of anything that happened before the video started, there was no need for it given the fact that the position the guy was in, with his arms up..he could have been cuffed, or at the very least restrained without being grabbed by the throat.

Also the way he was thrown down was OTT too.

But another day, another video like this. They have lost the ability to shock now.

It's indefensible, the man was unarmed and his hands were in the air and the police cannot choke anyone. At best, this is just police brutality and the officer will hopefully be dealt with but chances are this is racially motivated and, given the area, I can only assume he'll be protected.

Sadly its the exceptions that make the viral rounds and young impressionable people online make ill informed opinions about it

until they need the police that is and all bets are off

In this particular example yes

but if you wish to erroneously extrapolate it to EVERY single situation to make some forum capital then knock yourself out

Let's not pretend it's not a forum catchphrase for you. Despite having no more information than anyone else has you can provide a valid opinion but everyone else who's opinion doesn't align with yours is "ill informed" because we don't have all the facts.

Hypocrisy.

Officers aren't allowed to choke a suspect or use excessive force against someone who is unarmed and has put their hands up to show they aren't a threat.

The man was unarmed and held his hands up, you can't dispute these facts, you can't dispute that the man was apprehended and THEN choked, it's there in the video. You can't call on hypotheticals to cast aside facts to suit your bias, LT.

A teacher at my school legit did this to a 14 year old kid in my class for winding him up / laughing in class.

Some people unfortunately just snap like this.

Then again... Those people probably shouldn't be teachers. Or police officers.

Coincidentally a teacher who chased my husband down the stairs at school on one occasion and failed to get hold of him ended up as a teacher at my son's school. He told my husband my son was a lot better behaved than him. My husband asked how his anger management classes were going. :hehe:

You are absolutely right though, some people don't have the right temprement for some jobs.

Even American cops arent trained to choke criminals lol. Why would it matter what happened before the beginning of the video, the end point is inapporpriate in every single context imaginable.
