Last line of the "news" article btw.

"We should all aspire to improve our public spaces so that all members of society feel comfortable and able to contribute fully."

Everybody has a different interpretation of what a millennial is. And I can say with my hand on my heart, no one I started uni with was under 18. Mind you, you did have to have good grades back then.

Good luck with getting that sorted when half the buildings in the country open to the public are not wheelchair accessible.

I agree with that, but the focus on clapping just feels like weird priorities and an overemphasis on who it actually harms

What's ridiculous are all the new pigeon holes we try to fit people in.

I'm in my 30s now. When I was a young person, it was young people being called out. It's just a different label.

Let's all take a moment to apologise to Dia, labels attached to people based on age are obviously very important to her, and we must remember to get them exactly right 100% of the time.

Just another pointless story to give older people an excuse to grumble about 'millenials'.

It's a pointless change to do but it's even more pointless to react so badly to it, who are the actual snowflakes really? The people who have tried to implement this change or the people reacting to it by getting upset?

In which case, you clearly haven't a clue what a millennial is and isn't

(the most accurate definition is anyone born between 1981 and 1996. 37-year olds are millennials. Freshers, or at least 18/19-year old ones, aren't. People with an intrinsic resentment for anybody younger than them should probably ought to brush up on their terminology before another generation comes along, although they'll probably still call that lot millennials too)

So its the fault of older people if they point out that young people sometimes make themselves look like ar$es?

lol

It's a non-story that's only been made a story so that older people can go 'Grrr! Millenials!'

That's the long and short of it.

:suspect:

Because I deleted it when I realised I'd quoted the wrong post

In short, I was saying that if you do wish to grumble about "young people" and "millennials" doing completely non-newsworthy things like this as often as you do, you may as well learn that the two aren't interchangeable synonyms, because it'd be like me calling you Irish whenever somebody Scottish makes the news for.... I don't know, burning their toast or whatever

Non Newsworthy?

Sorry but if you think that this story is non newsworthy then you have no grasp of the word newsworthy

that isnt me dragging you, that is genuine advice

MB. 02-10-2018 05:02 PM

Also, Jeremy Vine being all "well young people certainly weren't scared of loud noises during the Somme!!!!" about this makes me laugh that he's still considered to have any merit as a broadcaster

Because older people are easy to cater to when it comes to media consumption, see: every tabloid ever.

Posting about evil millenials or lefties trying to sabotage brexit and you'll get plenty of clicks from an older crowd that looks for reasons to be outraged. It's the same crowd the consistently spreads the whole 'muslims are trying to kill Christmas' bull**** fake news articles that get shared every year.

Easy clicks from an easy audience.

I couldn't have said it better myself. You get the point across perfectly.

I mean, there are important world events, wars, natural disasters and political crises unfolding as we speak, and then there are a bunch of students doing jazz hands instead of clapping to help deaf people feel a bit less left out

I wonder which they'll use to headline the 6 o'clock news
