Its Not possible for her with such a small party
to become the PM.
First Past the Post.

here's one meaning

supporter of policies that are socially progressive and promote social welfare

so I ask again how did she get the top job?

bots 16-09-2019 05:03 PM

I like Jo, always have, and she could easily be the next PM. If it were a choice between her, Boris and Corbyn, she would win every time for me

That's interesting, I've never thought of lib dems as that progressive :/

arista 17-09-2019 12:04 PM

This was spoke about on Radio 4 AM
a few days ago

that rushed TV debates on Sky , ITV and the BBC

The Main Two are Johnson & Corbyn.

arista 17-09-2019 02:01 PM

Yes all the dreams she said
will not happen
as she can not be a PM
on the next General Election
which could be next month

No one can go from 18 MP's to 325 MP's

Snap.
Honestly her voice grates on me.

Her delivery too is so annoying too, the hand gestures.

She's irritated me since she was a Minister in the coalition.

Liam- 17-09-2019 03:08 PM

She might want to hold the same energy about her party that she has with Labour, she (and everyone else) would be up in arms if Labour or Brexit members were caught singing songs like LibDem members were at the conference

Kizzy 17-09-2019 05:00 PM

Jo Swinson gives me serious Delores Umbridge vibes :/

Cherie 17-09-2019 05:43 PM

She is a bit too smug for my liking

Granted, Blair is abhorrent and should be in prison, but imagine the uproar from Swinson and the like if something like this came from anyone but their own party?

nobody was more smug than Tony Blair, i wonder if he was successful

Alf 17-09-2019 10:24 PM

The biggest thing to come out of this conference was Verhofstadt's Hitler esque speech on Empires, and the ovation it received from the Lib-Dem conference.

Alf 17-09-2019 11:25 PM

Nobody wants to mention Verhofstadt's speech.

Post his speech Arista.

Empires are the future, nation states will be no more.

Twosugars 17-09-2019 11:34 PM

Can't find the whole speech but heres a bit you talk about

Quote:

‘The world of tomorrow is not a world order based on nation states or countries. It is a world order that is based on empires. China, is not a nation, it’s a civilisation. India… is not a nation… The US is also an empire, more than a nation… And then finally the Russian federation.

The world of tomorrow is a world of empires in which we Europeans, and you British, can only defend your interests, your way of life, by doing it together, in a European framework and in the European Union.’

Looks like he is a fervent federalist. Some in the EU are, others are not. The jury is out. Anyway it's too early to talk about that, theres no much support anyway

58 seconds clip of him on page 1

joeysteele 18-09-2019 08:20 AM

I don't actually think she made a strong speech.

Watching it again and the small coverage it got.
Leaves it a rather hollow event really.
Just my view, however I'm not finding much enthusiasm towards her since the speech.
