I got engaged (even though it was just a few days ago)

The amazing black lives matter movement

Excellent music releases

Making a lot of new Irish friends to connect with

I've had my depression and anxiety a bit more under control this year, ironically

Masks - I love them

Christmas, it was a small affair but one of the best

Bigots, racists and transphobes are being called out more than ever

My mam finally moved to an accessible house in a nice area

....gorgeous......he has the most amazing of fiancé’s but I’m sure he knows that...and gorgeous news about your mum as well and her housing....wishing you all wonderful new beginnings......

Nobody effing and blinding at each other in the street.

Hearing birds tweet to each other in March and april about how quiet the humans were.

Early finishes

1) Closer with my family than ever even if they piss me off sometimes

2) Strengthened and solidified friendships both online and off via technology

3) Left my old job that paid me a pittance for too much work to one that’s pretty well paid and I can do from home

4) Managed to still stay in employment after being made redundant from said new job and transferred to a different sector which I’m still at now

5) Got to spend almost every single day with my gorgeous dogs

6) Rescued 4 battery hens who had lived all their lives at a battery farm

7) Passed my first year of undergrad university and although I dropped out at least I accomplished the year (sort of)!

8) Managed to go that little bit further treating my loved ones with the luxury of having a higher wage, not going out spending money all the time and being able to live at home with my parents eg. buying my sister a PS4 in the middle of the year just to treat her etc that I’d never normally be able to do

9) Being given the clarity to go into this next year feeling a bit more grateful for everything I do have and to appreciate life as it is (pandemic aside)

10) Won Most Loved on here which was pretty sexy

Thank you! I think we'll wait a little while, not sure, we want to plan carefully and make it really special, though our ten year anniversary is in June, would be so sweet to do it then!

Thank you! It was pretty casual but that really makes sense for us and our relationship.

Congratulations Jessica!

Also I want to add one to mine.. Scotland ACTUALLY qualifying for the Euros?!

We’d had another wee scare with Samuel and found out everything was ok on the same day as that match. Was a jubilant day all round

(I know we’ll do as ****e as usual, but still)

Great thread, enjoyed reading everyone's

For me:

1. Went on the holiday of a lifetime just before lockdown in late Feb/early March road tripping round the USA before seeing one of my best friends get married in Mexico

2. I think my mental health actually improved a bit in the first lockdown. It was nice to have a break and an excuse to not do any of the life affirming things I'd felt under pressure to do coming into the year. At the same time I feel a lot more ready for all that stuff now because of what's happened in the last year

3. I was put at risk of redundancy in September this year. Wasn't expecting that but I actually survived the chop, ended up in a better role, and am now a lot happier in work than I was before

4. Listened to and discovered a lot more music in lockdown

5. Did more reading than I've done last few years

6. Got back into running and got a lot fitter in lockdown, undone some of that since the summer but still an improvement

7. I actually really enjoyed the summer and seeing what's happened in the autumn/winter makes me really thankful that we did have a couple months of relative freedom in July and August

8. It has been kinda inspiring to see the efforts of so many people across the country to fight the virus

9. West Ham stayed up and the return of sport in general was a massive boost when that happened

10. I guess its made me appreciate family and friends more

1. Saving money
2. Being around less people
3. Appreciating my lovely little home more
4. Getting in baking and cooking more
5. Starting running
6. Appreciating the genuine friends and family you have more
7. Radio 1 and other stations getting me through my work day
8. Great British bake off amongst other TV shows
9. Random neighbours sending me Christmas cards on my street
10. Going on more adventures locally and appreciating my home town and country more regardless of our government.
