reports UK to pay £400Million
to free Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

The UK has denied this.
Foreign office has said no.

there is no way the uk will pay that money, it is effectively a ransom, and that's not something that will be allowed to happen

...so this is an arms debt from the 1970’s then, that hasn’t been repaid...and almost 50yrs later, it’s important to be repaid in order to release her...this is just so much nonsense...

yes, it is nonsense, they will find any reason. The simple fact is they don't like the sanctions on them and they want to fight back in any way they can. Holding that woman hostage is one way.

Sky News just reported that Iran are ready to release her but only if and when the UK settle a £400 MILLION debt !!!!!!

International courts have said that debt is owed, it's not nonsense.

I feel ashamed knowing we as a country could have ended this a long time ago and didn't. This isn't a new story and if her name was Jane Smith, you can guarantee she would have been back home a long time ago.

We said we were paying it back over 4 years ago, and please forgive me if I don't take your description of international courts as in any way serious.

We do owe the debt...and we should have paid it. However you should not be using peoples lives as a bargaining tool...
