respect for Scotland for choosing a paralympian among its flag bearers

Beso 28-07-2022 02:08 PM

Tom Daley's gonna ruin tonight.

NICKP 28-07-2022 07:21 PM

Amazing to see Land rover defender at the very heart of the Commonwealth Games

Nicky91 29-07-2022 07:27 AM

opening ceremony show up there for me with London 2012

:clap1: :clap1: :clap1:

wow

i really liked the flag made out of the british cars

parade of nations really amazing, england clapping in sync to we will rock you

some of the outfits from some of the Oceania nations bringing their culture with them

loved Cameroon outfit too incorporated with flag colours :clap2:

loved seeing Motsi with a video message for south africa with a strictlyfied pun ''keep winning''

Lenny Kravitz video message for bahamas :flutter:

and the finale with Duran Duran, super awesome and such clean, polished superb vocals too from Simon, especially magic moment worthy with the Tonight United song with almost everyone raising their hands in the arena

great choices as for comedian presenters, Lenny Henry :flutter: Joe Lycett

you can really see Birmingham had been candidates for olympic games tbh, because how professional everything was done here, on par with a olympics opening ceremony, or for me even better

loved the storytelling with the Bull, don't know who controls that but great work there, sooooo real how it looks, with the eyes, mouth, nose

he didn't though

that was a very solid baton relay, also nice for that one doctor who worked at the frontline of the covid pandemic to get that moment of running with the baton too

really nice how they made ''stairs'' for Max Whitlock so he could pass it upstairs to Denise

Beso 29-07-2022 07:34 AM

All those poor commonwealth nations must be delighted and ever so proud with the opening ceremony, and its cost. I bet they cant wait for the closing ceremony.

Lewismacfarlane 29-07-2022 08:03 AM

Come on Scotland

also for all those elderly, must also be such a nice moment to still experience

lawn bowls athletes but still that remains a nice addition to these games, should be added to olympics somehow too just because it's a sport for all ages and one sport you're never too old for

Beso 29-07-2022 08:44 AM

No..I just found out who she was today..my sister and her mum used to compete together for the local swimming club..my sister being the better of the 2.

Nicky91 30-07-2022 07:09 AM

great races last night at the swimming

Stubblety-Cook  good on Wilby for making it him a bit difficult, and good on Ross Murdoch for pulling off a surprise bronze medal

GO Aussies too in 4x100, such a great team, William Yang you got a chance against but already Chalmers is a force to be reckoned with, and then the two power ladies with superb finisher Emma McKeon

good on England for playing a safety and at least securing the silver rather than blowing themselves up in terms of energy, i mean you can try to challenge Emma but that is more a all or nothing, because silver is still better than bronze or even nothing

gymnastics, holy **** Joe Fraser, wow he did so well in securing gold medal

good on Cyprus for a little surprise bronze there

------------------------------------
medal table so far

1. Australia (8 gold, 4 silver, 4 bronze) 16
2. New Zealand (3 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze) 7
3. England (2 gold, 5 silver, 2 bronze) 9
4. Canada (1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze) 4
5. Scotland (1 gold, 1 silver, 4 bronze) 6
6. Bermuda (1 gold, 0 silver, 0 bronze) 1
7. Wales (0 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze) 2
8. Cyprus (0 gold, 0 silver, 1 bronze) 1
8. N.Ireland (0 gold, 0 silver, 1 bronze) 1

Nicky91 30-07-2022 03:25 PM

am enjoying this so much

also when some of the other better countries at olympics don't compete, good to see those to fully take advantage and shine very brightly whom normally at olympics are chanceless

now track cycling on

quite exciting how many close call in the heats :o

Crimson Dynamo 30-07-2022 03:27 PM

noone is watching in Scotland as the football season has started

Denver 31-07-2022 12:37 PM

Bad Crash in the velodrome, Matt Walls ended up flying into the crowd with his bike and has finally been transported to hospital after 40 mins of being treated, atleast 1 other cyclist was taken to hospital with a few getting bad cuts

Nicky91 01-08-2022 01:26 PM

shame about Peaty, but good on him for a 4th place when just coming back from foot injury

but Australia's world record 4x200, Tidmus pulling off a world record too :clap2:

South Africa men winning rugby sevens from Fiji, and Australia women winning over Fiji

am enjoying these games a lot

also super lovely to see para-sports as well here, stunning achievement Alice Tai

Duncan Scott this time winning from Tom Dean, while at olympics it was other way around

Swimming is in the spotlight on day four at the 2022 Commonwealth Games as seven gold medals are up for grabs in Birmingham.

The impressive Sandwell Aquatics Centre, build especially for these games, plays host to a number of swimmers who won medals at the 2020 Olympics. Australian superstar Emma McKeon, who topped the podium four times in Tokyo, looks to add to her incredible haul of eight Commonwealth golds. Home Nations interest will focus on England’s Paralympic champion Maisie Summers-Newton in the SB6 100m breaststroke and her compatriot Abbie Wood in the women’s 200m individual medley.

I'd be putting a claim in if I was in the crowd.

Nicky91 02-08-2022 08:03 AM

england men got lucky in the hockey getting back to 4-4 draw, from 1-4 behind against India

AMAZING swim from Duncan Scott last night to save the scots into a bronze medal from first 3 swimmers of theirs 6/8 position

Australia again a gold of course, although England also did well with Tom Dean, doing enough to at least secure the silver
