…social media has been a successful medium for some artists also…maybe that’s taken over a little bit from talent shows …YouTube, Tik-Tok, Tumblr etc…have all been part of the early days and early careers etc of some huge artists, I think…?….wasn’t The Weeknd a mainly Youtube channel artist in the early days…?… and Calvin Harris rose from social media…also Megan Thee Stallion and Cat Burns….we always talk about the negativity and toxicity of social media but it’s also a huge positive for many in terms of the exposure of their talent…

…the original Destiny’s Child and Mama Bey originally auditioned for a talent show called Star Search but they didn’t pass the audition stages…and with Carly Rae Jepson, she didn’t win Canadian Idol….Zara Larson though, did win Sweden’s Got Talent at the beginning of her career…

The music industry is no longer the same. Singing shows are a cheap method of exploitive companies to get new acts. The way forward is independent artists in charge of their own destiny

Yes, this is the problem.

Good Talent will always come through
But it is best to deal with one of the 4 Major music companies
to distribute your music
in formats.

As it reaches the World Faster
with them

I support Social Media helping find talented singers, I have been listening to a YouTube act called First To Eleven over the past month, so I'm glad that it's there, and obviously like you've said, it does show a positive side to Social Media's existence.

However I really don't think that you can beat a night of The X Factor/The Voice/American Idol, and hear the singers perform live (even if later years of The X Factor had certain contestants abusing the live aspect,) I just don't believe that it can be beaten imo, because if a singer can actually sing, it will show itself (even during bad song choices for the contestant,) their talent will shine through to some extent.

Italy has Sanremo Music Festival for over many many years, very popular by both italians, but also internationally (now it is also used as selection method for eurovision)

most of the competing entries each year, get up to 30 million or even 40 million views in no time on youtube, and spotify streaming charts

which is a nice festival for young and older generations to compete and have fun in still :)

Spain's revival of Benidorm Fest is also a good one for their domestic music scene alone for their talent also to gain experience (not just a chance to go to eurovision)

if we look at other big music nations besides UK, USA that is, since spanish, italian music tends to do well global charts wise
