…the police have detained a 15yr old boy but he isn’t the attacker, though…the attacker is still out there…

A 15 year old boy has been detained by German police after three people were killed in a mass stabbing at a diversity festival - but the perpetrator is still at large.

A large-scale manhunt was launched last night for the suspect, who started attacking people shortly after 9.30pm on Friday as thousands gathered at the central square in Solingen, west Germany, for a festival to mark the city’s 650th anniversary.

The detained 15-year-old was seen speaking with the perpetrator of the attack moments before it was carried out, police said in a press conference this afternoon.

Police are questioning the teenage boy, as the manhunt for the perpetrator - believed to be a man - continues.

Counterterrorism officer Markus Caspers said an investigation into the motive is ongoing, but that the “overall circumstances” show that terrorism “cannot be ruled out”.

The three people who died were a 67-year-old man, a 56-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman. Eight people were injured, including four “very seriously”.

Specialist policing units are scouring the German city of Solingen, as a knife attacker who killed three in a mass stabbing remains on the run.

On Saturday, special police units joined the search for an unknown knifeman.

While I'm not saying every suspect should have their identity publicly profiled, (deliberately?) hiding even a description of the attackers in suspected terror attacks is what stokes "speculation."

Germany festival stabbings: Islamic State 'claims responsibility' as 15-year-old detained…

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a stabbing at a festival which left three people dead - and revealed a 15-year-old has been detained in connection with the incident.

A security source told the IS-affiliated media arm Amaq Agency that the suspect "was a soldier from the Islamic State, and he carried it out as revenge against Muslims in Palestine and everywhere."

The group did not provide any evidence supporting its claims.

Meanwhile, the teenager arrested is suspected of failing "to report an imminent crime" but no more at the moment, police and prosecutors said at a news conference on Saturday afternoon.

They are investigating the possibility he may have spoken to the attacker.

Prosecutor Markus Caspers said authorities are still looking into motives and searching for a male perpetrator, as a "large-scale" overnight manhunt involving several police forces and special units continues.

There is no clear link between the people who were attacked, authorities said - one of the reasons why terrorism cannot be ruled out.

A 56-year-old woman and two men, aged 56 and 67, died following the attack. Eight people were injured, four seriously, while "many other people have suffered mental stress".

On Saturday evening, officers said they were conducting an operation to access a building housing asylum seekers in Solingen as part of their investigation.

"We have received tips and therefore we are currently conducting police activities," a force spokesperson said.

The 15 year old is not the attacker, they believe he knew the attack was going to be carried out

A 15 year old boy being held responsible for not reporting an imminent attack seems a bit harsh…he probably didn’t know what to think…

People are cheering on people being jailed for shouting, so I'm sure they'll agree with this as well.
