It seems baffling that he's still at large and they have no description of the attacker. He stabbed a load of people in a crowd of thousands - how do they not have dozens of witnesses who could describe him

Solingen: A festival in a city marked by tragedy

The name given to the event, "Festival of Diversity," comes amid fears that xenophobia is rising in Germany.


Solingen itself was the scene of one of the worst cases of xenophobic violence in postwar Germany.

In May 1993, four young German men who had neo-Nazi ties set fire to the house of a large Turkish family, killing three girls and two women and injuring 14 other family members.

In October 1995, the perpetrators were convicted of arson and murder and given prison sentences of between 10 and 15 years.

The incident cause a wave of shock throughout Germany, where many residents are of Turkish origin, partly owing to a labor recruitment agreement signed between Berlin and Ankara in 1961.

I just heard a news report saying not to speculate about the stabber, but there must to loads of CCTV as well as witnesses, they make things worse because how are people to protect themselves if they dont have at least some kind of description? He went for peoples necks so he knew what he was doing

German special police units involved in manhunt following attack
Special police units have joined in the search for the man who stabbed three people and injured eight others at a festival in the western German city of Solingen.

"The police are currently conducting a large-scale search for the perpetrator," police said in a statement. "Both victims and witnesses are currently being questioned," they said.

Leading Green politicians voice condolences, call for fast arrest
German Economy Minister Robert Habeck and Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock from the Green Party have both expressed their sorrow at the Solingen attack.

"Violence against people who just want to celebrate happily is something to be condemned," Habeck, who is also vice chancellor, said in Berlin.

He wished strength and comfort to the loved ones of those who died in the attack and a good recovery to those who were wounded.

"It is good that the police are now making every effort to find the perpetrator as fast as possible," he added.

Baerbock wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that her thoughts were with the families and friends of the victims.

"My thanks go to the forces of law and order, who are flat out looking for the perpetrator," she wrote.
