Take Ali for instance, if took her 4 hours to say to 4 straight males on night one...."there will be lots of people watching who dont know I'm a lesbian"

Yeah, correct, and there will be lots watching who dont give 2 hoots what sexuality you are..BB isnt a knocking shop, it's a shop window for personalities, and sexuality isnt personality. So I dont know why she felt the need to share her sexuality to 4 strangers and millions watching

WELL I do know, but you know!

No, now is better but it's only better because of better representation and better discussion and more open discussion. It's only better because of the very things you're complaining about, really.

The more we talk about it now and continue to do so, the less we'll have to talk about in the future because one day it'll get to a point where it doesn't matter. But you only have to look at the comments Ali got regarding her sexuality, such as people questioning whether she was a lesbian and invalidating her own sexual identification, to say it isn't better.

Many of the straight HMs also spoke about their sexuality. Sure, they didn't say "I'm straight" but they spoke about their sexual experiences many times. It's all the same.

And as I mentioned, sexuality is not your personality, but when you've grown up gay - or in Ali's case, grown up hiding/ignoring you are gay - it often becomes a closer part of your identity to that of a straight person due to your experiences.

i would say it was her red hair that made her stand out more than anything. It was the focus of half the season

Then why suddenly mention it in front of millions?

Thats the exact opposite of what you were accusing her of doing

She meant viewers. Not family and friends.:joker:

How would any viewers know she was a lesbian just by looking …your theory is completely flawed imho

That was her point.. she was saying there will be lots of people watching who dont know I'm a lesbian by looking at me...

She then put it out there that she was. For no apparent reason. I thought she was going to flash us her fanny and say look, I'm a woman as well.

Not convinced

I think she was saying loads of people know her .. colleagues , neighbours etc but they would not know she was lesbian because she didn’t broadcast it

You think what you want of course

I also took it as there were loads of people who knew her who won’t know she’s a lesbian. She definitely wasn’t talking about the public because why would she?

She was talking about the viewing public..

No, she wasn’t. That doesn’t make sense. The conversation they were having was about her only recently coming out, and therefore there will be people watching (that know Ali personally) that won’t know she’s is a lesbian and dating a woman (because she’s only recently come out and has previously been in relationships with men)

https://www.tiktok.com/@bbuk/video/7423130915431255329

Why would she refer to the viewers? It goes without saying viewers wouldn’t know she’s gay because they don’t know her… You’ve perceived that conversation totally wrong.

I am slightly interested why the winning percentage was so high

Because all of Ali’s group had been evicted by that point so most voted for her from when the votes opened. The other groups still had a few in each so votes kept getting split until near the end by which it was too late to even get close.

I still don’t see that making that much of a difference

Why?

I personally don't either. Mainly because most of Ali's group had very little fanbase. I liked Ali but I didn't like most of her friends. The only HM Ali was friends with I can see making any sort of difference in terms of vote transfer was Lily.

Benjamin 23-11-2024 10:58 AM

Take one fan of each housemate

Ali fan got a vote from an Ali fan, a Dean fan, a daze fan, a Martha fan and a Lily fan. (5 votes)

Marcello got a vote from his fan and a Khaled fan. (2 votes)

Emma, Sarah, Nathan, Segun, BP, Hanah, Thomas (all got one vote)

Votes close and BP evicted. Votes reopen and the same voting pattern above happens and gets added to the original votes. Say BP’s vote went to Emma (hypothetically).

Ali would get another 5, Marcello and Emma would get 2. Everyone else 1.

Ali - 10 votes total
Marcello - 4 votes total
Emma - 3
Everyone else.

Sarah and Thomas get evicted. Votes reopen and Sarah’s vote goes to Emma and Thomas votes go to Marcello.

Ali gets 5 again.
Marcello gets 3
Emma gets 3
Everyone else gets 1.

Total for next vote close:

Ali - 15
Marcello - 7
Emma - 6
Everyone else - 3

That pattern continues until the final 3 by which Ali is so far ahead.

Obviously a lot of housemates had a small fan base (even in the final from Nathan down) but Lily had a huge fan base so they would have pumped a lot more votes to Ali too. Whereas Marcello and Emma were only collecting votes from small fan bases of evicted at the very end

Because Ali was a marmite housemate
Only lily was really Ali’s friend in the house and she had already been evicted
So she never had a massive fan base
And there was still enough popular house mates to divide the votes

Ali did have a big fan base. I’m unsure still why people don’t realise why Ali was so far ahead.

Because she had her detractors and if other housemates got evicted they would of then put their votes on other housemates hat didn’t include Ali

Usually for someone to win by that margin they are universally liked

Yes but because the vote was opened and closed so much, each time Ali hoovered up a higher set of votes. If they’d opened the vote to win at the final 5 she still would have won but defo by a lot closer margin.

On this occasion I can agree
But don’t think I’ve gone soft
