I did mine about 5 years ago at a shop called Ethel Austin. There wasn't really too many options for us other than schools, shops or sports places. All the sports placements got snapped up pretty quickly and I got left with one of the shops nobody really wanted to work at.

I suppose it was an okay job.I spent most of the time in the stock room on my own, taking a load of deliveries and then putting the stock out on the shop floor.I worked with a bunch of old women, so it wasn't the most exciting week of my life.By the end of the week I was working on the tills during a mad rush, quite funny.

The best bit about it was when my mates would come into the shop during their breaks and just mess around.Lunch times were always the best part of the day though, getting to meet up with mates and just have a laugh in the town centre.

The shop closed a few months after I left.Obviously couldn't cope without me

I asked my tutor if i could work in the Channel 4 Headquarters in Westminster next year! She said She will try and fix it up for me! I'm like 95% sure that i won't be doing my work experience there lol! But there's no harm in trying? is there?!

I mean even if i do, they wont tell me anything about BB lol!

Aww cool, oh yeah id love to work with animals. For my business studies coursework we each have to set up a small business were given like £30 to start off with. I was thinking of doing my own dog walking business and thought i could take Bonnie (my dog) along too. And yeah my ICT recommended that i should get a job in ICT as im very good at it, i might have a word with him. Theres an Art gallery (and club) which i used to go to when i was in Primary which works with Art and Ict i could maybe help out there lol x

Cool, what things did you have to do? x

Work experience is more about giving you a taste about what it is like to attend work on a daily basis, time keeping, taking instructions, etc. rather than where you actually do the placement.

I have just started a new job and we are taking a young person on work experience at the end of June from year 10 then we are taking a 6th former in July. I think it will be great for us and the young person as it will give them the opportunity to see what it is like working in a team, and seeing how everyone performs their jobs. I have to think about a project for the 6th former as they are a Business Studies student.

I did mine about 3 years ago, was in a bank, first job... help count money, i managed to drop about £3k behind a cabinet, took about half an hour to move the cabinet out and find it all!

Bit of a late reply but I went to a playgroup/preschool in march/april time of this year and I loved it, didn't have to do much just played with the kids and cleaned up after them for a week  tended to get covered in paint and sand more than the kids though

Mine was hell. Travelling into Central London everyday to sort files. The only best bit was working in the Museum Shop for three days of the first week. The people were well nice. Other than that, I hated it.

The Imperial War Museum.
I think we discussed before that I went past your cinema to get there. It was near a roundabout, I think. It began with R and was in red..

GhettoSuperstar 07-06-2008 07:12 PM

I did my work experience GAP a year ago and was offered a contract after that. Have been there ever since.
I'm 17 btw.

x_mel_x 07-06-2008 07:17 PM

I did mine at a clothes shop, Bay Trading which was ok. Now I have a Saturday job at Boots, which is really dull. I have work experience in the summer at Closer magazine.
