LEONA!BREAKDANCERS!,we are trting to have a better opening than bejing!
Well, Im not the producer it's just my idea. What would you recomend PJ!?!
AHEM,To start with a domnio trail set up in the form of the olympic rings. Then someone will shout "let the games begin"
then a 4 mil firwork display will go of,a giant paint ball explosion will start,50 dancers will fall from them stringey things and start to do tricks a brass band will start to play an england flag will fall, then total silence....
The national anthem will then be sung by that welsh bird.
Don't you think that's very basic, low key and short though?
You didn't let me finsih a large pole lower into the stadium, then the queen will slide down in a mankini and sing take a bow.
LOL sexy!
I would watch just for that.:laugh3::laugh3:

The 2012 stadium doesnt stand out at all its just a bowl, which looks like a ordinary football stadium.
The Beijing one has a magnificent design, its architecturally amazing and just stands out because its a amazing design.
They have completely underestimated the costs of 2012, showing how disorganized and inaccurate they all are. The aquatics stadium had to be reduced, the designed changed, and there still problems with it.

ROFL.

Thats what I was thinking there's no way there isn't gonna be at least one terrorist threat during the London games.

London is more targeted for terrorist threats than Beijing, so its likely that there will be some sort of threat, which isn't surprising.

Found out Beijing only spent £27 mill on the opening ceremony. I'm really suprised they did so much with that amount of money. I'd have guessed they spent £100 million lol

I agree, I can see there being a terrorist threat.
It's kinda.. expected tbh :\
-makes a note to move out of london while the olympics are on-

On the other hand.
I don't wanna see Leona perform. At all >.>
But that's just me xD
We should have Britain's best talent [and I mean it, I'm sick of seeing some failed X-Factor contestant, a drugged up Amy Winehouse and the latest girlband].

Failing that.
Shove Alexandra BB9 on stage for half an hour
"We will win. 'memba I told you. Pow Pow Pow"
although after talking about terrorist threats.
That might not seem so appropriate :\

Xander 09-08-2008 02:04 PM

I agree about the performers, I'm not saying Leona doesn't have talent as she does, but maybe we should have talents that Britains well known for, not Amy Winehouse as that's just a bad reflection on our country. Tbh the opening ceremony is about the country's culture, and it looks like ours will be about drugs, binge drinking, obesity, and shootings.

Beijing had some great concepts, but the ceremony went way too over the top. There was just too much for it to be meaningful. Athens was overall a much more well done event and really made the history of civilization a piece of art; Beijing just tried too hard with the technology. If done right, London could probably do a better job than Beijing. How?

It needs to be dramatic, it needs to say: "Look, you don't need to spend £150m+ (it was $300m) to make a good ceremony." How about starting with an animation of the previous 29 modern Olympics on a plasma encircling the inner ring of the stadium with a woman in a flowing white dress slowly being lowered to the centre of the floor. When the animation finishes (that is, after 2008) and it's time for 2012, she uses a simple lighter and taps a small fuse that lights and enourmous fire with "LONDON 2012" encircling the inner perimetre of the track. The lights would have to be very low during this time so that it comes as a shock to the spectators and basically lights up the stadium.

Following that, an artistic representation of Euro-British history would follow, similar to the Athens float parade but executed so that it happens all above ground in mid-air. During this, the Parade of Nations would start slowly so that not only would it not go over-time like Beijing, but also the simultaneous action would mean that the athletes could watch the ceremony as it happens in person. This would obviate the boredom that the Parade causes much of the time. They would finish their laps and go underneath a clear plexiglass floor upon which the performers dance/sing/perform.

There are many celebrities that the UK could use. I'm against Leona or Paul, though. They're just too ridiculously fake and over-commercialised.

I think a good concept would be the usual fireworks, of course, but also, have a helicopter hovering above the stadium then throw down splatters of red, white and blue paint, or colours to go with the theme. It would look amazing, IMO, with all the bouncing colours of paint, then have a few drummers and stuff with the paint bouncing off the drums. I KNOW! Even, have the whole stadium dark and make the paint iluminous. Now THAT would be impressive, but I'm sure there are a lot more creative and amazing ideas in mind for 2012.

I THINK I HAVE JUST HAD AN AMAZING IDEA!! Can you tell me an honest opinion on it please!!

OK, my idea is about torch being lite!

First look at this picture..

Imagine all the countries have introduced themselves and the president of the Olympic committee has made his speech!

http://i35.tinypic.com/2ahh9qg.jpg

Then.. 4 past British athletes run a relay around the stadium.. as the center of the stadium slowly moulds into NELSON'S COLOUM!! WITHOUT NELSON ON TOP

Each Athlete runs a quarter of the track (Red and Blue in picture) When the final athlete runs to the center of the stadium A replica of Nelson's Column is in the middle of the stadium.. (Yellow Circle in picture below)

http://i36.tinypic.com/2lvb67s.jpg

When the final athlete gets to the center of the stadium where the smaller version of the column sits, they ENTER IT WITH THE FLAME IN HAND. Then in a matter of seconds a 5TH PERSON Dressed as nelson appears at the top holding the flame. There should be huge cheers and screaming. And gasping.. The 'nelson' Flies across the stadium and lights the torch at the top. Then huge fireworks display!!

What does everyone think!?!?! Honestly, please!!

BTW this is Nelson's Column in London's trafalgar square!

I love the basic idea of your plan!' but I think the layout of the stadium and the way the torch is lit is a bit representative of this year.

Shaun 25-08-2008 10:30 PM

I like the relay idea, Loukas, but I think it's a bit basic...no offense, lol. I like the Nelson's column idea though.

Sure

It's just the fact the podium is in the middle and the positions all the countries line up in, but I guess that's no big deal as the ceremony seems to look best that way.

The other slight thing is the fact 'Nelson' lifts up into the air to light the flame, the same thing was done this year. Perhaps if the column tilted into the cauldron with Nelson reaching out and lighting it would be more original?

I mean it's a fairly simple idea but it's not really got a "wow" factor that opening ceremonies should have. 4 people doing a relay is just quite basic, really. Sorry :(

JOSHUAH! 25-08-2008 10:37 PM

Great Idea Loukas, I like the way it ties together modern and old London statue's type of thing

If the right training and procausions were taken it shouldn't be much of a risk ;)

Really like it :) Just need to expand on it...make it a lot more eye-catching, but not OTT lol.

I don't really know what I'm talking about lmao, I'm not very creative myself, but I'm easily WOW-ed
