Mirror bebz?

MrGaryy 10-05-2009 12:00 AM

I genuinely don't think people do but then maybe I'm a bit naive on the subject. I certainly don't, there have been plenty of newer members I got on with regardless of their post counts.

JohnnyBB 10-05-2009 12:05 AM

tooo many pepole judge you on here anyway!

Z 10-05-2009 12:43 AM

Yeah; but I've been here for nearly 4 years, and my post count's still really low (in comparison to people who've been here for much less time with a far greater post count) and I don't think people think any more of them, or any less of me, based on their post count. I think it's true that you need to have at least 500 posts for recognition, that is, people aren't going to remember you until you have a memorable avatar that they've seen around the forum. I hadn't a clue who Ross was until I got added into a massive group conversation over MSN, so I think MSN probably helps people to be recognised around the forum; the more you get to know people, the more people will remember you - I don't think post counts themselves are a reflection on people, but certainly the more you post, the more memorable you are.

MrGaryy 10-05-2009 12:47 AM

I agree with that too, MSN is a huge help for getting to know people and becoming more popular across the forum.

Barbie 10-05-2009 05:41 AM

I have had loads of posts, and havent quite intergrated and dont think that post numbers are it, i think what you say matters more, obviously more established members are noticed, but build your way up woo!

Lewis. 10-05-2009 07:51 AM

I agree with zee. I do not think that it is post count in particuar, but whether you recognise that member

Harry! 10-05-2009 08:30 AM

Look at my post count and look how I am analysed.

Thats like erasing everyones history if you remove thier post count.
Its nice to identify long-term members from people who joined a day or two ago. Also someone could just change thier username and no one would ever know where they went; because if there was no post counts then people would think of him/her as a new member.
Nah.
Keep the post counts.

Sam! 10-05-2009 09:53 AM

Half and half I think. Usually if someone has a low post count it doesn't mean I suspose they post aswell and it obviously suggests they haven't been on here as long so haven't got to know people. The people with the higher post counts have probably got to know people so are better known and liked.

VERY VERY TRUE!

30stone 10-05-2009 06:53 PM

I think if you have 28 posts and you have already insulted people, not that many people will like you.

But genuinly if you annoy people they wont like you, if you dont they will be at least civil toward you if they dont actually know you.

I dont want it to go either - but I i think it would be good if we could see our own on our profile...without other seeing it. :)

Lots of good points have been raised!!! :)

I wouldn't say people judge you THAT much on post count, but it certainly plays a small factor. I mean, I've been here from 2006 and I don't post as regularly as others and there are people who have only joined this year or last year and have like double my posts. LOL. I wouldn't say I'm "popular" but I like it that way :) It just depends on the person really. Like remember Angie? As soon as she joined, she was a hit with everyone, so I really do think it's more to do with quality not quantity. :)

Captain.Remy 10-05-2009 07:09 PM

We all try not to but we all do. We all take a better consideration on something a member with a big post count wrote. It's a natural reaction, it doesn't happen on TIBB only, it happens in societies, with our politics, people tend to listen more to someone who has a lot of experience. But that doesn't mean this person is better than the rest. Identical situation there.

However, I believe newbies are rather annoying at the beginning because they tend to think it's a bit like jungle style here 'OMGGG ITZ SO COOOL 1111 LMAO BEYOOOTCH' But that's my opinion.

Agreed, I see a decent post as a decent post. I would choose some of the smaller posters over the big numbered ones any day.

I agree with the term Quality over quantity, most of the people with big numbers talk complete nonesense, usually with one word answers or thread hogging in the britney thread. If you judge someone on post counts then you are wrong because the higher the post count the more likely they are not gonna give you a great conversation.

On the other hand though, there are some high post count people that make great posts, but they have obv been here a while, people that have been here a year and have 10,000 posts... it does make you wonder how much rubbish you have said.

****ing loads.

over 2400 posts during bb9....

Is pathetic and its all shite.

*mazedsalv** 10-05-2009 07:40 PM

I dont think its anything to do with post count, that just saying that all new members are crap and all older ones are the best, lots of newer members make really good posts and they are popular based on that.

I do think MSN does work though.
