As long as they make themselves look stupid (which they do and have) I'm all for it.

I am english, I was born in england, raised in england, and speak english.
Just because my skin color is different, doesn't mean im foreign. You are arrogant, society is changing, homosexuality is accepted, get used to it. |

But I was saying that the national statistics show that roughly 10% of the population are classed as "ethnic minorities". So why is there such a huge % of these people in the Big Brother house. Surely, BB should be representing our society fairly. Seems it isn't! |
Was that at me Chuckyegg?
If so, im an athiest. |
the ethnic mix and sexuality of the house probably reflects the producers of the programme, it does not represent the UK which is white and straight.

There are more gays and blacks in the country than ever, so why shouldn't it be the same for BB? |

And yes, he is a tosspot. |

But the stats still show, that's it a huge minority (about 10% of the population). So BB is over-representing these demographics. |

But as a social experiment that BB is (as well as an entertainment programme), it is better to put in housemates who represent the UK. That was the case for the first few series. |
It is very dangerous to group together gays, ethnic minorities and immigrants. The former two are just British people and whether they are there or not is of no great significance.
I do sometimes wonder about people who appear to be immigrants. When one considers the considerable obstacles put in the way of people who have suffered dreadful lives elsewhere before we allow them asylum it seems odd that others can come here and appear in a TV show. Quite separately , don't forget the wonderful Melanie Hill in the wonderful BB1. |
I agree with Lauren's post. Why should BB be representative of UK society at all?
It's a television game show-the producers probably selected the housemates on the basis of their potential (repeat potential) entertainment value, more than on the basis of ethnicity. I think the OP has a hidden agenda here. |
I think BB has compounded the UK view that homosexual men are all variations of John Inman. As for Lisa....
|
I like the idea of having ethnic minorities in the house,i think it helps breakdown stereotypical views of people & can help breakdown cultural barriers.
It can also educate & make people more tolerant of each others. Especially in these times of uncertainty, ie North Korea & Iran. |

probably very representative of his own minority group we all know how tolerant they are if all the HM's were white do you really think this nob would complain about that? |
I quite like it. I wish Big Brother was that diverse here in the US.
