It's her real name. Why should she change the spelling just because you're illiterate and can't unduhstand enything that issunt spelt fonetikly?

I would say Caiomhe may be pretentious, her name most definately isnt.

Before suggesting changing her name to the way it is said perhaps he should make All English people ensure their names are pronounced as they spell them eg Cholmondely to Chumley etc.

The list of place names and words in general use that the same rule could be applied too is almost endless.

Caoimhe is an Irish name, so people who speak Irish can pronounce easily!!
In Spanish the name Jose doesn't sound how it's spelt or In Polish the name Joaquin doesn't sound how it's spelt either!
Get over it there is more than one language in the world!!

I think Caoimhe should change her name to be spelt how it's said, which would be Keeva.

Otherwise, she should be known as Cay-oh-Im-he.

I also find Keeva a boring housemate, and the way she smirks when she knows Shabby likes her is pitiful. Reminds me of how Noireen used to act with Sree and Marcus.

Agree/disagree?

The name is Gaelic. It is very fashionable now for Irish people to use gaelic names the language that a few of them speak.

Disagree, like I said on your other thread:

Err no?

She's Irish and that name was probably gaelic to start with. Its a part of her heritage, and where she comes from. I'm Irish too, my full name is Niall (pronounced like the river Nile) Patrick McCrohan. Even though it really pisses me off when someone mispronounces my name, I like my name because its unique and reminds that I'm Irish. I don't wanna change my name at all.

Caoimhe is probably used to having her name mispronounced as well, and probably wouldn't have thought much of the tree taking the mick

maybe you are not as bright as you think you are.
Explanation:

"The pot" (for cooking) and "the kettle" (for boiling water) sit on the stove over the fire and become black from the flames. Example: "I'm tired of you always wearing my clothing!" Answer: "Aren't you the pot calling the kettle black? You're wearing my pants right now!"

it is an old saying yes, but since 1950's at least pots and kettles have been of a different colour to one another (no more over fire cooking). Thus stop using this ridiculous saying which no longer supports the joke. It is 2010 not 1940's

It is an Irish name the fore pronounce in the irish language.

Although I cannot off the top of my head spell (the pronounces keevas) name, I think you need to get over it

Wellllll..... 2 things. First, I was pointing that people have come up with a lot of reasons why Caoimhe shouldn't change her name just because one person doesn't like how it's spelt and can't be bothered to pronounce it properly.

Second (and this a corker, you'll like this) By trying to make fun of Me you've managed to draw (unwarrented) attention to yourself. Which, if you don't mind Me saying so is a hellofalot like the pot calling the kettle black as someone pointed out earlier.:joker::nono::sleep:

See, I can be sarcastic too:xyxwave:

Nope, not short for William (in my context) as Billy is a name in it's own right. I was named Billy and it is easy to pronounce.

So your attempts at logic didn't quite work that time round :joker:

:) Well Iwas not really doing logic, thats not my thing, i was just making point at how many laguages spelling etc is different, and actually I think you should change your name by deed poll, because I think it sounds better spelt Dick, :)

I wish I could speak(type) the welsh language and have type in that, that would get you head spinning.

good night dicky and all Tibbs
