Say what you want about her but she's a smart businesswoman and knows exactly how to get media attention, there's a reason she's been relevant for years now (plus she snatched Paris :sorry: )

Lol. The media exploit her. She has zero control

80+ million Instagram followers is A List.

I don't like her, but I think she deserves due credit for making such a huge empire from being Paris Hilton's closet organizer and the daughter of some guy who got a Murderer found innocent.

I don't think she's anything special and the stars of KUWTK are Kris and Khloe not Kim and I disagree that she's a good role model for young girls, if she had grown from the beginnings morally and found a talent that can't be accredited to somebody else then I'd feel different but she hasn't.

Famous sure why not? She seems like a great, savvy businesswoman.

As famous as she is for doing what she does over others? No.

Hasnt she been accused multiple times of buying some of those?

The media is the main reason for her fame and she knows exactly how to exploit it

For me personally, she definitely deserves her fame. She's a marketing genius and she's worked hard for her success. She's a businesswoman first and foremost and she's capitalised on her assets and not only created an empire for herself - but also made herself one of the most famous women to ever live. She's this generation's Marilyn Monroe. She's a cultural icon.

It's just a shame that some people still think she doesn't deserve her fame and she's famous for nothing. What are your thoughts on the issue?

(Personally I think it's a Serious Debate and News worthy as it's very culturally relevant since Kim is a role model to the youth of today)

I know nothing about her but it seems her surname is in vogue these days , i have no idea why and the only thing i've gleaned about her is she has a huge fake arse :joker:

For me personally no, and only because most of what is she was famous for is being fabricated and pure marketing (aside from her sex tape). Her home life on her reality show is scripted and there's dozens of those shows on TV right now. She's famous for being media savvy and hanging around the right crowds, timing her appearances and photos... some fame due there I guess.

Paris Hilton was famous for being on one of the first shows of it's kind where she left her roots to go live in a small town and provide comedy. Both her and Nicole were genuinely funny (though trashy as hell). That makes for a little more of a backstory than "I like to tweet everything I do, hang out with Kanye and look nice". I don't know how I will explain Kim to my kids

But... given how lackluster our mainstream has been in the past 10-15 years comparatively speaking to other generations, it's understandable why she is noteworthy. Few acts have compared in recent years, even genuinely talented people... so I guess in that respect, she deserves her fame, but I don't necessarily have her high on my list for doing anything noteworthy... I'm more interested in why she's famous than in her actual famous.

We live in an era anyway where we follow people on Twitter and IG for really base reasons... they're not necessarily relevant, it's probably all a farce, but yet they're still interesting to us (like BB housemates )

kardashian women where brought up in the rich LA plastic fame culture, one thing that gets on my nerves is that why do teenage girls and young women idolise these pair of nasty brats, no guy in there right mind would date women with there personalities, I loved that south park episode with butter's mom killing them with a shotgun,

Whether I like a celebrity or not, for me if anyone has managed to get themselves noticed, managed to get TV shows etc; to the point where they pull in viewers and supporters more generally.

Then they are famous and have deserved their fame.

Kim certainly is,in my opinion, in the 'is famous' category.

So yes she does deserve to be famous

She kept her fame after the sex tape because she's "white" with a fat ass (fake), just like a fat ass propelled JLO to stardom. Her "business" is ran by her obsessed momager.

And now Kendal is getting all the gigs and such because of her name and models that have worked for years were rightfully angry. Same with that annoying Kylie

if kim kept her natural born unibrow, we wouldn't want to know a thing now would we, have you seen her with out make-up, yuck,

...I guess that I hate comparisons of having to be this generations this or that person...'this person is the new :insertname:'....when people are so different/times are so different etc...why can't they just be individuals in their own right and not compared...I think it was someone from Givenchy that made the Kim Kardashian/Marilyn Monroe comparison, wasn't it Cal..?...

...anyways, to compare them in every way would mean comparing personal career achievements as well and that's where it would all fall apart a bit...but I do think there are some similarities though...Marilyn was a bit before my time but it seems that a large part of her celebrity/her 'iconic' was an interest in her personal life which was quite controversial obviously...so a similarity there..?...and Marilyn knew how to work that media as does Kim...making the right entrance/wearing the right dress etc..both very much in charge of themselves there and very much in charge of their celebrity...neither being taken quite seriously as well..?...both seen as 'the dumb' and bimbo type females..?..yeah, I can see that as well...

..it's funny because we have some children from an African village come to stay with us each year and their visions of 'celebrity and aspirations/role models' etc aren't very balanced...they're very media driven with the big glossy magazines etc and pics of what are seen as beautiful/glamorous ladies...and in one conversation about 'who/what would you like to be'...Kim Kardashian's name came up quite a lot with the young girls...it could have been Angelina with her acting accomplishments and her charity works etc, who was admired but no...Kim I think is a much bigger celebrity to some..so that's subjective as well/celebrityism...yeah, I know that's not a word but I like it...

...anyways, I've got a bit off course, I'm still quite sleepy but I think yes, she very much deserves to be famous and deserves her celebrity...regardless of her career accomplishments (or lack of them or whatever..)...she's very much an icon of her time...I like her actually, she's always seemed like a very nice lady to me..(sorry CeeCee...)...

Ammi 11-09-2016 05:24 AM

....hmmmm, thinking about it...we analyse/we criticise/we judge so much..that's what we do so then we think 'do they deserve' or whatever but when you strip it back to people who don't do those things and the negative and real negative images that become some people's daily environments then yes..Kim Kardashian, a beautiful lady smiling from a magazine cover etc is very much a positive 'role model' and very much an icon of the day...(whether that feel shallow or not etc..)...

Ammi 11-09-2016 05:25 AM

..maybe over-thinking it a little...
