This tbh.

because i had to for my own hotel room last year

The hotel room has a price that has to be paid in full whether alone or with a pair

Oh I thought you meant he'd take up two seats on the airplane

It would be pretty fun I think. For a start it's not 'weird' to do things alone, it can be really nice to have a break from everything, get some time for yourself and do things that you only want to do. People miss out on so many things because of how they think others might perceive them for doing it.

I enjoy going places alone (with people too of course, but alone can be just as fun), you can do what you want when you want, you can go out and make new friends in places (holidays are the best places for that, people are often friendly and willing to chat etc) and you can just chill out.

In short: do it

Ugh this helped so much! Thank you Stac!

I enjoy it, I enjoy the time with myself only and within my thoughts and go where possibly some other people wouldn't go. You do whatever you want, whenever you want, and this helps to relax and enjoy your 'me' time.

So do it! Pack your stuff and go!

Thank you!

You would have to pay the price of 2 people though

Yeah I know, it’s not too bad of a difference, as the flight is quite expensive.

Not weird at all, Will.
I absolutely love my solo trips, partially because it's either with my family or alone - there's no other option for me in my life to these days.
This was the second summer in a row I'd been to the UK alone (London and Brighton) and I'm actually coming for a third and very special and exciting round this December. It's very liberating being your own master in a foreign place, doing whatever you like and exploring places, cultures, people, basically whatever fascinates you. I love the planning part as well, but you could do without it as well, depends on what you enjoy doing.
Do it! You won't regret it.

Thank you the great advice! Enjoy your trip!

Is it weird? I honestly don’t mind the thought of it, sitting by the pool/beach on my own.

I normally get lunch on my own when I go with family so eating alone wouldn’t be a problem. Although I think I’d have dinner/tea in the room at night. And maybe perch a quick drink in a bar or something at the hotel.

And since about 14 I’ve had my own room on family holidays so I do spend a lot of my time alone on holiday, and I much prefer it to tell the truth.

I guess you could say I’m a bit of loner lmao. I do get on with most people though and I think most people tend to like me.

It’s obviously more expensive to go by myself but I’ll have to save my pennies.

I plan to go to a hotel that I went to a couple of times when I was younger with my family in Dubai, so at least I know where most of the facilities are and what the hotel is like. I think it would be quite daunting going somewhere completely new for my first time abroad alone.

I’ve been through an airport on my own when I went to Jordan as I met my godmother on the plane as she is a flight attendant, so I wouldn’t be nervous to do that.

will book me a ticket and I will read you poetry every day at the pool - just keep the larger flowing. ps off to work on my latest poem - free ticket :joker:

If it's what you want OP and that is the holiday you'd enjoy then it isn't weird. Perhaps you will make some holiday friends.

Oliver_W 24-09-2017 10:43 PM

I wanna go to North America, and would probably do so alone.

andybigbro 24-09-2017 10:47 PM

I personally couldn’t go on holiday alone because I get lonely and need someone to bounce off of or I’ll go mad, and I’m not one to make friends and meet new people.

But I know lots of people who prefer traveling alone, so if it’s something you feel comfortable about then go for it :)

Eddie. 24-09-2017 11:08 PM

Go for it! I think it's perfectly normal to travel by yourself. I have had lots of friends who had went for backpacking before, but I haven't bcos I'm too concerned on my safety.

One suggestion, go to Dubai during November-December where its cold at night and warm (not too hot) on daylight. I also suggest going to the souks (traditional arab market) to buy your souvenirs as theh are cheaply priced over there...

But anyway this isn't necessarily true, it depends which hotel you go to (or you could go to a hostel, they're pretty fun or just find a cheap hotel)

I went on holiday on my own once and it was one of the best holidays I've ever had. It was totally last minute and right after I'd broken up with my ex, I had a week already booked off work and I didn't want to spend the week feeling sorry for myself and being miserable at home, so I found a last minute deal and went. Was one of the best decision I've ever made.
Whatever your circumstances or reasons for going though I'd recommend it to anyone (unless you really don't like the idea of being alone - although if it's a resort type holiday it's really easy to meet people to hang out with), but yeah it can be really freeing and liberating so go for it

I don't think it's weird at all.
can i ask what is the longest you been by yourself?
