A few of the pundit team seem to do that, it's bizarre

United were good … but I thought Arsenal played amazing football for the majority of the game but were caught out when they were playing catch up ..

Have to say that the Martinelli goal was incorrectly disallowed .. they went back to that soft ‘coming together’ when there had already been about 50 stronger ‘coming togethers’ before that one .

They have relaxed the rule on physical contact to let the game flow and try and control all the diving / feigning injury so they can’t go back to how it was and call it a foul on Eriksen !! He didn’t blow for a foul in real time so it’s ridiculous to disallow a flaming goal for that minuscule contact .

I also thought that Saka was fouled twice I the box but the ref waved play on both times - the second time he was clearly injured and needed extensive treatment .. why didn’t VAR check them anyways ??

So confusing.

Also .. Martinez took Jesus out after just 1 minute 34 seconds of the game starting .. if you watch the replays he actually stamped on his ankle .. yet only a free kick given !

Martinez was involved in one of the two Saka penalty claims .

-

Jesus was clearly being targeted and was kicked from pillar to post all day - and got zero protection from the ref .

Late on McTominey actually whacked Jesus from behind before THROWING him to the ground .. it was his 20th foul and finally got booked .

It wasn’t all one way ( just 95%) as Bruno was taken out by a dangerous looking high tackle ..

I think the refs have lost the plot .. it’s like the old days when the defenders were allowed a couple of really bad tackles at the the start of every game !!

Trouble is we all want to see fabulous, flair players and creative midfielders but some are gonna get injured due to the lenient officiating.

Martinez must think he’s landed in heaven as he’s been given free roam to just kick anything that moves !!

You know what he said in an interview when he signed for United ??

He said that he was very committed and didn’t mind walking over corpses to get the ball !!!!

Rant over !!

I still think Arsenal will win the league aa long as their forwards aren’t injured by defenders …

They are CL contenders certainly, but PL win will probably go to Manchester City.

Didn't really know where to post this, but as it's football related i'll put it here.

I read that they have been TOLD to look to him first … which may explain your point .

Obviously Walker didn’t get the email as he smashed his opportunity into the stands instead of sliding Haaland in a tap in early on .. it would have been a different game if City had gone one up after about 7 minutes.

Those dropped points are firmly on Walker’s shoulders imho

It’s not as though is position is under threat and he felt like he had to score either ..

Tbf you might have a point about that Kyle Walker moment.

Also I suppose some credit should be given to Villa, they really squashed the life out of that game, which was the only realistic option that was open to them.

Tbf the latter part is a miracle.

Its beyond my comprehension

If the ball had not gone in the net it was still a pen to Newcastle

utter incompetence

The Referees/VAR both seem to have it in for Newcastle if we also look at the Man City & Liverpool games.

Personally I don't want every player to be flair, I think it's good to have all sorts of different players.

And if we're being honest any successful team (including Man City) needs a mix of playing styles in their squad.

But they have a duty to protect players .. all players . Today Martinez and to a lesser degree McTominey were constantly stepping over the mark and so there’s two losers .. the innocent player plus the fans

Tbh in yesterdays match both teams would've had a few players sent off if the Referee was going very literal with the rules.

Plus the weaker team needs to be able to use more "sneaky" tactics to make the game even be competitive.

Because let's face it, if that Man Utd vs Arsenal game had a "clean" version then yes Arsenal would've won the match with the more skillful players, but the match would've been less competitive which in turn makes it more boring to watch.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I support players doing potential leg breakers on their opponents, but I honestly don't mind a bit of physicality in my Football matches.

But then again I'm a Birmingham City fan and we're 100% rage in the way that we play.

Zizu 06-09-2022 06:06 PM

Well my mate Sterling has been pants so far .. I wouldn’t be sure to see being subbed at 60 minutes !

He misplaced his first four ‘attempted’ passes to a teammate including one ‘hospital’ ball for Kovacic who’s just Bach from injury… then he went on a mazey little run but didn’t look up and ran into two defenders .. then one useless cross into the box with Aubameyang waiting in oceans of space ..
