I cannot see why there is so much negativity surrounding her and it really shows that the BBC comentators(ie Pam Shriver) is totally anti-Williams.

I missed the mens final because i was working, just watched the highlights though and Federer was class.

He is a cut above everyone else.Rodick was just blown away from the start.Shame it wasn't a bit more closely contested like the womens final.

Yep ITH it really is lacking in diversity at the moment and it's becoming a bit repetitive with the Fedrer/Roddick Slam finals....and TBH does Roddick ever have th ehope of beating Roger?At this stage no.

However the women's game has many potential winners and some great players that make the game a joy to watch.

As for Venus adapting....she has just played in the Fed Cup for the USA against Russia on clay,she lost her opening match to Myskina,probably because she found it hard to adapt to clay but she beat Dementieva in the reverse singles.

Gasquet is coming through for the men and is possibly the new Federer, even before the old one has gone :joker:

Dementieva is rubbish though, yeah she got to French Open Final, on clay, but her serve is slower than an 80 year olds. I've no idea how she is so high in the world.

The womans game has so many possibly champs though, from the Russians to Davenport, Willliams x2, Clijsters, Henin-Hardenne, Mauresmo and it's not ace after ace after non returnable :dazzler:

Yeah true about Dementieva...she's not really outsstanding mind you she did reach the US semi's last year didn't she?So she is consistant,her games not top class though.

She'd be better with a serve of sorts, but Venus would have just overpowered her, whereas someone like Mauresmo, Myskina, Henin-Hardenne et al, have far more intelligent games which are more useful off of grass

Mauresmo isn't that great though.She doesn't have nything outstanding in her game and that is why she won't be a tennis legend.She has a good serve a good backhand good volleying...nothing outstanding.

She has a good all round game but she is not excellent at anything. I think she will never win a major title.
