I'm not sure why some people are so indignant about this, it does say clearly in the rules that "it is fine to insult housemates, to a certain extent...as long as it is not too over the top"

This Forum is hard. You get attacked and ridiculed simply for having a different opinion.

The point is that you don't need to go over the top about it, why are you struggling with the concept of not just letting the vitriol fly? You can say you dislike someone I'm just saying reign in the insults a bit.

At the end of the day this isn't something i've dreamed up by myself, the rest of the mods are in agreement with it. If you don't agree with the rules then no one is forcing you to stay, like Vicky said by signing on here you agreed to follow the rules. It's that simple.

That's not true and whenever it does happen it gets dealt with pretty quickly

A fair amount of the comments about the girls that some would say crossed the lines of decency were in fact from female members.

Seems a lot of females disliked everything about Rebeckah. Probably something to do with showing women at their worst.

Apparently its a girl thing.

Well that's against the rules, obviously, I can only suggest using the report button to make us aware of it when it does happen

I've done that, thanks.I think sometimes posters in here cross the line.Personal insults are totally uncalled for.Why can't we just be civil to each other?:conf:

See. Compared to DS we have pretty much no rules here :p

Yes. I think it was mainly the soaps thread which was constantly full of venom for Eastenders and Coronation Street's executive producers which kicked it off and now they've pinned notices on all the forums.

But, TBH, the reason I've never officially joined DS is because you can get banned for the slightest thing there. lol

What? I hope you're joking because where exactly in the quote below does it state you're not entitled to an opinion.

As long as you're mature enough to see the line and not cross it you can vent all you want.

I dont think Vanessa was talking about this thread. I think(going on other posts) she may possibly mean about other things that have happened.

Vanessa you have been a good poster since you joined, dont let a few put you off.

Beso 24-09-2011 10:07 PM

It's a bit unfair dissing people for slagging of the housemates.

You don't hear anyone having a go about loiuse, faye or maisy...give them a break fgs, it's not us posters fault alex and heaven are munters.

Kerry 24-09-2011 10:12 PM

Is it really so hard to follow the rules?

Is it really so hard to be kindly asked to ease up on some of the more nasty comments and not kick off with yet more and moaning?

It was just a request to keep the forum a little lighter and more welcoming. I will also ask, please do. Thassall

Well I think the rules are a little confusing, but it can't be easy keeping us all happy. So I'd just like to say thanks to you all for giving your time and monitoring the site and giving us somewhere to vent our feelings. :)

Kerry 24-09-2011 10:38 PM

The mods and admin are there to monitor the site as they see fit at the time. There are no vendettas. There is no you and us. The rules are there as a guideline and are asked to be respected. I really can't see what is so hard about typing another word other than swearing or giving your opinions without overly abusing anyone

Vicky. 24-09-2011 11:41 PM

Have cleaned this up as well as I can I think.

Please try to keep ontopic.

Also, to clarify some stuff from the deleted posts, if you feel a mod has broken a rule, you can either report them the same way as you would report a member(admin will see the report) or PM an admin directly.

Now, no more offtopic stuff please :)

joeysteele 25-09-2011 12:14 AM

Can I just say without maybe getting wrong for doing so. I try and think in the main I succeed in not insulting anyone, I did hold the view that housemates were fair game in the main but I still tried to refrain from making acidic personal insults to them,I see little need for that.

I therefore welcome these reinforced guidelines, even more so especially if they are applied as rigidly to next years CBB if a certain duo was to again go in the CBB house.

I got, and felt and knew I got a lot of personal ridicule and insults during the last 2 weeks of CBB,myself and others.
So I am glad this guideline has been highlighted as if they were to go into CBB next year I had decided that during CBB,I would not post on here or even look on here while they were in due to the personal abuse I got this year.

I still tried not to insult anyone despite getting so myself from many all at once, along with others too. What I like about this guideline is that it has been stated it applies to housemates too,so hopefully those of us who feel strongly as to a certain duo for instance, will hopefully, because this guideline is being reinforced, not have to race to defend again acidic and vitriolic attacks on not only the duo themselves but we who are members who are fans of them too.

I therefore personally am glad this guideline has been highlighted and reinforced as I was physically and mentally drained by the end of CBB.I see it as a good and positive move.

By the way Vanessa, I think you make really great posts and hope these guidelines will help you feel more welcome on here.
There is a massive amount that is good on this forum and only a very small bit that isn't.

Mystic Mock 25-09-2011 12:20 AM

TBF I only have ever slagged off Rebeckah and Aden though Joey,I have never slagged off there fans.

And Jedward were called twincest and Incest and Autistic which are far worse than Ardick,Prostitute,Slut and Slag Imo.

Kerry 25-09-2011 12:25 AM

The thread is NOT aimed at any one single person. I'm not sure why people have got so defensive.

We've all slated HM's in the past. It simply has been noted that this year it's gone OTT and a mod chose to say so

Now, go play...

Well, equally as with me jf, welcome these guidelines and hope all others do too. 2 wrongs will never make a right and I agree with you but I do welcome very much these reinforced guidelines.
Let's hope the guidelines mean a positive move forward for everyone.
