There may not be malice in your posts but there is certainly an underlying prejudice where it is totally acceptable to pigeon-hole ethnic groups. Such tendencies are dangerous and I doubt that I need to give examples.

As for imitating "a black or asian accent", what the hell is one of those? Colour of skin does not denote accent and this is reflected in the very sensible observation that if you mimic Deana (the person, as opposed to her race as a whole which would encompass a variety of accents) it shouldn't be offensive as long as it sounds like her, but if you target what you feel are her origins and attempt an indian accent, then it is not her you are mocking. It's her race.

I'm chuffed someone has stood up for the Scots as well, as bigotry isn't only targeted at black and asian people. It's a means of belittling any minority/majority group.

Have you actually started a thread on here or are you just out to rape and pillage as you go along. I honestly think you are confusing me with someone that gives a **** about your opinions, others know what i mean, Sorry to be pointed but as Dizzy says, Rascism goes both ways and if a post is written devoid of malice but controversial in its content, by definition that post should be regarded as an opinion and not a dig or slur on the person or race it is about. I can be controvertial but i am never nasty nor do i deliberately set out to slag off people unless it is in a fun way.

Now please leave it out as I cant afford another infraction.

Racism can involve all races. There is no "both ways". And your ridiculous statistic is unfounded, disproven by history, and reeks of a defensive institutionally racist "old-boy" attitude. That is my first impression, and I hope I am wrong.

Returning to the actual thread, noone seems to know what was said or how so this is all hypothetical.

If you don't want another infraction, stop making stupid generalisations. I'm not making you look racist. Your racist statements are making you look racist. And finding another person who shares your penchant for offensive posts does not excuse your words. If you offend me, I will tell you. If you choose to ignore me, it is your choice. I have no responsibility for you.

Bored of you.

jemlou29 19-07-2012 09:31 PM

they done it in a bullying way all laughing at her, and saying that because indians eat with thier hands as part of the culture and relate it to deana..yes it was wrong

Amy Jade 19-07-2012 09:34 PM

It's because they imitated Deana as speaking with an Indian accent when she doesn't have one.

Her accent is clearly brummie, therfore their impersonation was racially motivated.

Livia 19-07-2012 09:36 PM

It's about intent and their intention was clearly to insult. I can't see how anyone can argue with that.

coolface 19-07-2012 09:39 PM

she does have a slight bit of indian in her accent but obviously not full on internet service providings, it's mostly brummie but occasionally when she says certain things you can hear a slight indian accent come through, it's common for a lot of south asians from the midlands

Joe. 19-07-2012 09:42 PM

Thing is- if Scott said that back in 2007 in BB8 he'd be removed quicker than ever.

Ok, that's fine - I don't hear it but let's say she does have an indian accent.

Does that mean it's ok for Ashleigh and Scott to make fun of her for that?

Marmalite 19-07-2012 09:44 PM

I agree - what they said was insulting. They weren't mocking her accent - they were insulting her culture and everyone else of the same culture.

That warning by BB was well deserved. Quite how they needed to be told and couldn't figure something out like that themselves is beyond me!

sampvt 19-07-2012 09:54 PM

The warning was for something they said about her eating with her hands not anything else about accents. O M G what a crock of sh.t

Livia 19-07-2012 09:56 PM

I respectfully suggest that the ease with which some people accept casual racism on here may be a generational thing.

InOne 19-07-2012 10:01 PM

It was very ignorant, but not sure about racist. The tone was clearly mocking though, they probably deserved a warning

Yeah and BB did say stereotyping rather than racism which is pretty accurate

You are absolutely right. it is always about intention. I have an 'accent' and sometimes English people have imitated it. Sometimes it hasn't bothered me in the slightest as it was done in a friendly way, other times it made me really angry as the intention was clearly to insult. it sounds like the intention in this instance was to be nasty in which case it should be dealt with as such.

You seem to have forgotten Deana took the piss out of Conors accent :bored:

So English people are racist against you ?

Jords 19-07-2012 10:53 PM

People defending what they said, tut tut! Sure they wernt being racist, but as people have said they were being steretypical which could cause offence to the public and their aim was to offend Deana.

I find it a bit uncomfortable the extent Deana-haters are going now.
