I really didn’t expect this to be the drama of the series

India has gone in there and no doubt spends her life not wanting to be treat the same as woman, but to be treat differently to them ,superior and a special case

Dunno. I just didn’t imagine this because there have been plenty of trans people in BB and this has never really happened I don’t think.

lewis111 05-01-2018 05:25 PM

I do feel for India because it likely does feel really **** to have this happen to her and I feel she has the right to be pretty upset and act different
HOWEVER
In all cases we've seen so far it is clearly just a mistake or slip up and not at all intentional. I'm sure everyone's parents or grandparents call them by their siblings names (I've often be called by the dogs name) which shows that people speak without thinking

So I think she has the right to feel sad or uncomfortable but not to be pissed off

I am still perplexed by the casual offhand way she said she wasnt speaking to her son:shrug:

I've thought from day 1 India really wants to win this from the way she's acted - and now I think she's found something that could earn her sympathy and some fans so she's latching on to it
I don't acctually think she's that angry about probabaly just a bit upset but she knows if she over acts she'll likely get support

As difficult as it might be for her though India needs to accept that it will sometimes happen, accept the apology, and move on from it and not try and make the person making the mistake feel like sh*t. It's really disappointing after she handled that first misgendering situation so well, although I suppose being in the BB house for a few days will heighten emotions etc. I just hope she's not reacting like this for the cameras and using her trans status for a sympathy vote because that would be a big insult to trans people.

Thats definitely how its coming across to me. It seems like India is fairly happy for these 'misgendering' instances as it gives her a chance to be all 'I am a real woman, say it again' speechy and (in her mind) cement the sympathy vote and maybe win the whole thing. Of course this may be an unfair criticism...I won't know until we see more of India...just kind of seems this way. India appears to have little to offer other than the trans aspect of their personality. When surely...there is more to India than that. So far, does not seem that way though. Self centred, and obsessed with identity issues. Constantly talking about their life as a man, but then throwing a wobbler when someone else misgenders after days of hearing about how India is/was male :umm2:

I actually think India would be delighted for an instance of genuine transphobia to capitalize on. Which India may well get with this Dapper dude going in.

And the reason being because he couldn't call her anything but Dad, then she just moved onto her favourite subject ..... Herself

Yeah it was when she was shouting in Amanda's face that I had that thought too, and then (or it might have been just before) telling Maggie not to patronise her... was just so hypocritical "don't patronise me but hang on a minute while I patronise Amanda" (and not very nice to Maggie either considering she was trying to help). Like you say we won't really know till we see more though and I do want to give her the benefit of the doubt, even if she is exaggerating it I think it's undoubtedly going to have some affect on her and it can't be an easy thing to deal with, but she's not doing herself many favours.

It must hurt. All your life to go through the pain of being ‘other’ to what everyone else perceives and then to finally be happy in your own skin, yet it still isn’t enough!

Having said that, I don’t believe Amanda has ANY malice in any of this. Fact is, if India didn’t go on about it, it probably wouldn’t even be on Amanda’s mind in the first place.

Jake. 05-01-2018 06:04 PM

When did she do it the first time? I know Ann did

Unfortunately for India, India is not actually very likeable and does come across as very self centred and Indias style of arguing leaves something to be desired. So sympathy vote will not be forthcoming I don't think..

Cannot wait for the drag queen guy to go in now.

Ha ha wicked Vicky,me too:laugh::laugh:

I don’t think Amanda meant it on purpose, I think it’s habit.

Okay but there's are multiple threads on TiBB with obvious transphobia in but I don't want to report them all because it'll be spamming the report button so do we get heard when we report or not because I need to know if it's worth it. Or I just PM you the names of the offenders and you look theough their post s as there did so much of it! :joker:

You are not calling your daughters 'he' though are you? And to my knowledge neither are transgender as if they were you certainly wouldn't have this attitude.

I honestly think a slip of the tongue is forgivable, so long as it was just a slip up of course

But now twice from Amanda, and 5 times this series (bearing in mind we are 4 days in) in verging on unacceptable. And although India shouldn't be sulking and hiding away and instead talking about it - I understand why she'd be upset.

I will reply to this in PM as this is going to take us way offtopic as I can already see where it will go  Just so people don't think that I am ignoring it.
