Was just making the point that its silly calling out millennials on everything, especially when the majority of us are over 25 now lol

...where in the story does it say that?

Withano 02-10-2018 05:36 PM

Why do you (as in anybody) care though? THE SNOWFLAKES TOOK CLAPPING AWAY exclaims extremely fragile and evidently easily upset people. Oops.

It's a pointless change to do but it's even more pointless to react so badly to it, who are the actual snowflakes really? The people who have tried to implement this change or the people reacting to it by getting upset?

Oops.

University is a special place.

Idc about it. It affects me in no way whatsoever. I can’t imagine it will affect many people at all whatsoever based on the way the article only refers to ‘democratic events’ (its probably only the ****ty little union debates etc)... but then I entered this thread and saw that I was wrong and it actually affects lots of people that shouldnt be affected in any way whatsoever.

Weird world.

The bigger story to me is the snowflakes who are acting snowflakey because people they deem to be snowflakes are doing something that doesnt affect them., but still upsets them.

Thanks. Its interesting your response and that of some others who chose to avoid the topic and focus on everything but!

Well yes, but as i said

“Idc about it. It affects me in no way whatsoever.”

Sometimes a thread leads to different side discussions which Im open to discussing, but the main topic of the thread just doesnt interest me. It just doesnt affect me, nor anybody else that i will ever know.

But what about if you're ever on the University of Manchester campus and, while there, happen to perform some kind of extraordinary act, perhaps one worthy of applause? What will happen then? Will you just stand there while people shake their hands from side-to-side at you, like some kind of pansy? Or will you rise up and fight back against the handclap Nazis? Well? Hmm? Hmm?

Thought so :fist:

But pandering to the few on no evidence but a misguided righteous feeling to justify a job-title does affect us all

and will affect you going forward

hence my thread

No, someone deciding waves are more appropriate than claps at democratic events inside a university does not affect you, me, or anybody else, including those involved in said democratic events.

Lets call a spade a spade, this thread is just an excuse to whinge.

Ant. 02-10-2018 07:25 PM

I can't even use "the topics and issues are too serious for my liking" as an excuse to avoid Serious Debates anymore given the fact that, on this thread, there's 3 pages of some people whinging that people have decided they should wave instead of clap

I'd live for that situation, I'm formerly deaf so someone who gets offended on behalf of me never gets the reaction they want from me.

If you want to call a spade a spade it's a thread about virtue signalling

But you knew that I'd guess

armand.kay 02-10-2018 08:05 PM

why are people in here making it seem like an issue of sensitive millennials vs the world when the idea is just to make the university more accommodating for autistic students.

To be fair, about half of that is people whinging about said whinging.

AnnieK 02-10-2018 08:17 PM

No-one will ever take the clap out of Manchester :hehe:
