You were explicitly comparing the two situations, and thus, you were comparing the two people. He was convicted. There was mountains of evidence against him. He admitted to plenty of it. It was overturned on a legal technicality. The fact that you apparently get some sort of satisfaction from a sex offender being released because of errors in the system is deeply troubling.

A hard lesson to learn Nicky is that not everyone is what they appear to be on the surface - and some very charming people can be hiding demons. Some of the worst criminals in history have been described as being warm, friendly and likeable by people who knew or met them... you can't base your belief of innocence on him "not seeming like a bad person"... there is a tonne of evidence that he did it. He admitted to drugging women to take advantage of them. That is rape, just as clearly as using aggressive force.
