The multi-millionaire was also reportedly written to by HMRC 12 years ago
over alleged tax avoidance when he was a footballer, where he earned an
estimated £60,000-a-week.

Twitter users have asked him to explain whether he legally avoided tax on
some of his earnings. One said: 'What a hypocrite @GNev2 is! He avoided
tax himself when he was earning millions. Now he thinks the rich should pay
more tax'. Another wrote: 'Write a big cheque out then. Send it to HMRC. Get
it off your chest. If you don’t, you’re a hypocrite'.

Another said: 'Gary Neville - the world-renowned economist - condemns tax
cuts. Can he - hand on heart - say he NEVER used a single tax avoidance
scheme to protect his millions? Says the millionaire ex footballer that without
doubt used tax avoidance schemes'.

Why did Marcus Rashford get involved?

If prominent personages want to use their platform to spread the word, that's up to them.

Exactly. If he came out and said vote tory, these complaints would never have existed.

bots 26-09-2022 05:50 PM

and they will get deservedly roasted if appropriate

It's almost like he can be a dick, and still be right on this. Who knew?

A Labour government would be more helpful to the kids than a Tory one.

This awful, AWFUL Conservative tenure has been
disastrous for the UK.
This cannot stand.
If they won’t resign and call a General Election,

the only option. Brexit Britain is on

Even Starmer does not want
a General Stike.

Labour Needs Scotland to Win a General Election
or it will be a Hung Parliament in 2024.

Also, if they take power with the SNP

Their Debt when taking over,
would be over 100 Billion.

Ref:Politics Live BBC2HD

They really don't.

Would be good to win some back but that's not the case at all.

In 1945, 1966, 1997, 2001 and just about 2005.
Labour would still have won WITHOUT Scottish seats.

So HALF of the elections Labour won would have been won without the Scottish seats.

I'm not bothered though.
The SNP could never justify allowing the Cons to govern from Westminster.
They would be hammered by Scots voters if they risked a Con government again being in place.

The SNP wouldn't need to be in coalition with Labour or do any deals.

Just by abstaining on votes, would leave Labour governing comfortably .
However I think the SNP would be more likely to support a lot of what Labour would do.
I've no worries on the SNP.

Plus if it was okay for the bigoted DUP to do a deal and keep the Cons in power.
It's hypocrisy to moan at any possibility of SNP support for a Labour led government

arista 27-09-2022 12:11 PM

YouGov

Labour are at 45%
Conservative at 28%
Lib Dem 9%
Green 7%
SNP 4%
Reform UK 3%

Of course a few years to go, yet.

bots 27-09-2022 12:12 PM

if enough people are pissed off, labour will win by a landslide. Bear in mind, this is just the beginning of the Truss era

Oliver_W 27-09-2022 12:20 PM

I wonder if SNP would stand down in SNP-Labour marginal seats in order to help oust the Tories.

Not for one second do I believe the Cons are on 28%
They've never scored less than 30% in a general election.
Even in 1997 they were just over 30%

It's nice to see a poll like that one for me however.
However I doubt the gap is 17%

The main thing is, for the Cons to now have any chance of governing they will need to be at least 4% ahead of Labour.
That is looking a hard call now.

No, and they shouldn't either.
Labour only has one seat in Scotland anyhow.

bots 27-09-2022 12:30 PM

We don't know what the uk will look like in 2 years time. We may be at war, we may already have been nuked. Only a mad man would predict an election result this far out from the vote

don't the SNP want the next GE to be an effective independence ref if the dont get one from the UK government? They will be wanting to win every single seat

They're predicted to take all but a couple of seats in Scotland anyway.

Plus after July 2023 the boundary changes are taking some seats away from Scotland and Wales.
Adding more to England.

Which are projected to hand 10 more seats to the Cons and take 4 off Labour in an election after July 2023.
