Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that it is unlikely that he will be signing any more players this January after missing out on Fulham defender Chris Smalling.

The 20-year-old defender ended up choosing Manchester United rather than the Gunners this week, and Wenger admits that that might be it as far as the north Londoners' transfer dealings are concerned.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is coming under pressure to satisfy fans and make a plunge in the winter transfer market.

The Mirror says Wenger has just three days left and has resisted moving into the transfer market even though the board have told him there is money to spend.

The club’s hierarchy - major shareholder, US tycoon Stan Kroenke is expected at Arsenal this weekend - know that shareholders will be appeased if Wenger does a deal at the last minute with a striker and centre half on his shopping list.

Arsenal will wait until the summer to make their move for French forward Loic Remy.

The Gunners have been linked with a string of strikers during the January transfer window, but Arsenal scout and former midfielder Gilles Grimandi suggested the club would wait until the summer before making their move to bolster the forward line.

Nice striker Remy appears to be the new number one target at the Emirates, and Grimandi admitted that the 23-year-old striker was being monitored by the north London club.

“We know the potential of Remy. He has one of the greatest potentials in France and perhaps even in Europe over the next five years,” said the Frenchman, who is currently the Gunners’ chief scout in his homeland.

“He has a physical standard that is outside the usual, but we are looking for a player who will enhance our strength very quickly,” Grimandi continued telling Europe 1 radio station.
