What job would women in all seriousness be excluded from due to all the physical and mental restrictions they have?...

It's not about being excluded and it's not about absolutes, you're finding offense where there's none implied.

I wouldnt say they were just 'simple biological/neurological facts', sure how were wired up plays its part, but I think upbringing plays a definite role due to the social norms in place. It follows closely to girls being put in dresses and boys being made to play with action men and toy guns.

Its not about exclusion or anything. Just generally, men have more strength than women. obviously there are exceptions to the rule though.

I kinda dislike these kind of topics as I don't taker the 'typical' view that men and women are actually exactly the same and completely equal. I disagree. manual labour is better for men as (again typically) they have more strength than women. And personally I think women are better at jobs such as nursing as they tend to be more...empathetic and caring.

I would probably rather have a male firefighter come to my house to carry me down the stairs and save me from a fire, then have a nice friendly female nurse to get me back to health, than the other way around..

Maybe I am sexist deep down. Maybe I was just brought up with old fashioned views...I don't know. But I have always thought some jobs are simply better for one gender or the other :S

I totally agree. Men and women are totally different and always will be. I understand arguments about equal pay and everything, but otherwise i don't think men and women will ever be equal. It's not realistic and we shouldnt try to make it realistic

Of course both should be paid equally for the same job. Some seem to have taken it too far though and seem tow ant equal pay regardless of what job is done

Mind, this equal pay stuff was great for my dad. He worked in the prisons on the computers and was earning less than the people who actually worked with the prisoners. This whole equal pay malarky started and as my dad was the same 'grade' or something in his equivalent post,. he got his pay backdated for years to that of the people who work with the actual prisoners, came away with about 20k. Hope I explained that right

In general, I think you should get paid for what you do and it doesn't really matter what anyone else gets paid, but if someone does the exact same job, with the exact same skills and they exact same amount of effort then yeah sure, why not have the same pay?

and LOL that's pretty amazing. Wish that would happen to me!!!

Agree. People will talk about 'social constructs' and all that but its largely been the same throughout history and across vastly different societies. Sometimes we should just accept that there are genuine biological differences between men and women.

I know...he had worked at the same place for like 20 years..So it would have only been like 1k a year difference which you wouldn't really tell. Great when it comes in a massive lump sum though.

He spent it on a trip to florida for all of us and his mam :D Hopefully he gets another backdated payrise soon as I really want to go back but I'm too broke :joker:

Its engraved in us, I reckon. Evolution...men were the hunter gatherer/physical types. Where women (when not being clubbed over the head and dragged into a bush to make more babies) looked after the babies.

Depends whats wrong with it :p

There is plenty of money in programming and stuff. 2 of the people in my dads office at the prison were women. Women also tend to do office clerk-y jobs more often than men, which require computer skills.

Vicky. 17-02-2016 10:13 PM

I will admit that I have no ****ing idea how to fix a washing machine. My solution is..buy a new one and give the crap men something to do

I know this isn't a very popular opinion, but I agree Vicky.

The OP referred to tiling, plumbing and drainage engineers, why must you have guns like popeye to do those jobs?

Why are attitudes like this allowed on the forum?

Hubby can turn his hand to fixing the washing machine at a push..maybe about 6/7 times in 38 years...but it took him the full 38 years to learn how to actually use the chuffing thing,.
Son is an electrical engineer, designs industrial washers amongst other things, I kid you not, it has taken him years to learn the difference between the washer and the tumbler..go figure:joker:
