why do we so rarely see women ; tile floors, slate roofs, plumb pipes, drain sewers, tarmac roads, fix the electrics, fix the electric machines, build fieplaces, build walls, build garages, fix leaking roofs, fix boilers install radiators, change my road side punctures, etc etc I own a few houses and I endlessly employ people to do all these jobs and more (mow lawns, lay patio, decking, plant trees etc etc) but everytime ive EVER looked up the adverts and rung these businesses, EVERY time its been a man who has done these dirty jobs?
I know as always I will be shouted down as sexist by the disingenuous? but why? why aren't the women digging up our roads, cleaning our sewers, fixing our electrics, our roofs our plumbing etc etc where are they? the masses of womens organizations are always complaining enmasse about every sleight, often seeing out trivial nonsense to take offence over, demanding equal pay. but why don't they get onto other women to get them doing these jobs? when they calculate the average male v female wage, is it any wonder if there is an overall disparity if the entire female population (barring a tiny minority) who turn their noses up at these jobs WOMEN GET YOUR GLOVES ON, GET AWAY FROM FACEBOOK AND FEMINSIT LOBBY GROUPS AND DO THESE JOBS YOURSELF ![]() |

Also, judging by the fact you say you employ people to do these jobs, why don't you yourself do them?

I know a couple of female painter and decorators plus one girl whose going back to college to do plumbing. The problem with many typically male or female professions is that most people who are booking a builder, say, want and expect a man as they are in the most part physically stronger. Most women going to a beautician want a woman etc etc etc. Also, in professions mainly undertaken by either sex, I can imagine training could be pretty challenging if you're the opposite sex to the majority.

Because we've adapted to the idea that there are certain roles for men, and certain roles for women. We pass these beliefs down to our children, and thus it continues through generations.
It's always going to be this way. Last edited by Ashley.; 17-02-2016 at 07:42 PM. |

I'm just answering your first question, by the way, the rest of what you said in your OP is pure rubbish that I do not wish to give attention to.

because of men is the answer to the OP...
When my step dad goes out the his shop to weld, or woodwork, or if he is programming machinery on his computer, he invites my son to come over and work with him... never my daughter... and my daughter when she was younger would sheepishly ask if she could go too, but now she has just given up because she got the message... men don't want to train girls in these tasks...

I always wonder why women are no good at painting.I mean why do they always have to get the decorators in once a month?
As for equal pay. There is no gender pay gap now up to the age of 29.Infact women are getting paid slightly more in their early 20's.It's only really noticable after the age of 40 when a lot of women have made the lifestlyle choice to have kids in their 30's and leave the work place. Then they have to start climbing the ladder again. |
