Yeah, absolutely, it was a pretty selfish move by them and such a waste of money and a great show

GRRM wanted it to run for around 13 seasons. Those last 2 seasons in particular were an absolute joke.

For Danys story to really get to her end point it could have done with that many seasons tbh Book Dany (did you read the books?) imo was already further along to her turning evil but all the characters were able to be fleshed out much better in the books. There was plenty of material and viewer demand as well to have 13 seasons, seems like a stupid move not to make that many. So many popular TV Shows drag it out and end up ruining the show but this would have been one example where it would have really did it the justice it deserved

Danny went full on crazy in the space of 2 episodes, it just didn't work

Exactly, it didn't make any sense. (sorry for banging on about the books but....) She had started to lose herself a bit more in the books so i didn't find it as bad from having read them but if you had just been watching the show it would have made very little sense for her character to turn like that, they tried to make what should have been years and years of lots of stuff happening to her into Missandei being killed by Cersei causing such a massive personality change

Caught up last night, great episode

I thought watching that Rhaenyra and Daemon did actually intend for Laenor to die but everyone seems to be saying they were all in on the fake death plot? So why did Daemon tell Laenor's fella to make it a quick death with witnesses

I assumed they were in on it, the "quick death" could have been whoever had to be killed to use as the body double

Didn't Daemon kill that guy though on the stairs?

Oh did he? If so then he surely was in on the plan then?

I assumed that when Daemon had the conversation with Laener's b/f about going to live in the narrow sea where people didn't mind you being gay, he was selling a life where him and Laener could go be an open couple?

bots 07-10-2022 02:17 PM

i didn't think they intended to fake it, and neither looked particularly upset at the outcome

I thought at first Daemon was killing him so that Qarl could get there unguarded and then Qarl and Laenor came up with the plan between themselves to use that guy as the body but seems I'm alone in that thinking!

It seems strange that no one questioned if the body was Laenor though, how would it be burnt beyond recognition in the short time it took people to arrive from the kid going to alert them

Spoiler:

it's funny how this is basically mirroring the first season of GoT

btw, this episode is ****ing brilliant

Weird how the one eyed kid now looks by far the oldest of all the youngsters

I liked Alicent in this episode, it is true that she's spent basically her whole adult life caring for the sick King and she's also obviously been governing pretty effectively the last few years. I'm glad she didn't have that young girl killed or jailed as well, thought that's what she was going to do for a minute It's a shame both her sons are awful.

Jordan. 11-10-2022 09:26 PM

The last episode was the first time the aging felt really off for me. I don't know why they didn't have younger actors for Criston and Daemon at the start, also the "old" actors for Rhaenyra and Alicent now look too young for their kids.

Jordan. 11-10-2022 09:29 PM

There's only a years difference between Olivia Cooke (Alicent) and Tom Glynn-Carney (Aegon) in real life :skull:

Yeah that's true although I think the main problem is the kids have aged too quickly. Isn't Aegon only supposed to be like 18 and his younger brother 14/15 or have there been more time skips than that. The one eyed guy looks about 30.

It is a pity they couldn’t somehow ‘age’ that first blonde actress.. she is so watchable / captivating for some reason ..
