nooo not a dark colour, makes the site look heavy. Pastel colours = best for universal forums, maybe a shade of gold? Or silver and another colour (I think purple/lilac goes with silver)

Righty'o, here's a few colours. :')

I like the blue one, james :) and the black one. I think the purple/green clash with the red/white headers though.
