I don't think this was part of an 'organised' terrorist plot, the fact it is so shocking is it has that 'amateur' feel to it.
A suicide bomber targeting buildings and planes we are aware of and are prepared for, these random acts of murder we are not.
COBRA will want to know how likely it is for this type of violence to happen again.

As someone else said...his point is perfectly reasonable and I can totally understand the reasonings behind it, but an eye for an eye never works and this is truly just as disgusting as what he is condemning.

At 1930, the news program I was watching described a "terrorist" attack having taken place in Woolwich where one of the assailants (no ethnicity or race mentioned) had been shouting incoherently except for one phrase "Allahu Akbar”, which, AFAIK, is an Islamic phrase which Muslims use, meaning "God is great".

I was therefore surprised when, later, linked on this site to a video which showed a black man speaking English very well* (or with "reason") when most of Britain's Muslims are of Pakistani/Indian/Bangladeshi origin or ethnicity and such extremists as belong to those origin/ethnicities are frequently portrayed as being lacking in English language communication and presentation skills **.

As you interjected in a conversation that wasn't yours to begin with, then maybe that should identify how you could avoided having your point identified as nonsense to begin with.

School and family has nothing to do with radicalisation.

Does anyone feel Muslim religious leaders need to be a bit more vocal in their condemnation of acts like these. Maybe the time has come for the Muslim communities to stand up a bit more and protest at the way their religion is used by extremists who carry out this type of atrocity.

Non Muslim British people go to great pains to distance normal peace loving Muslims from the maniac types who carry out these sorts of attack, but maybe now all Muslims from all walks of life should rise up with one voice and say enough is enough.

Perhaps the Islamic centres should look more closely at the style of teaching in Mosques and the truer beliefs of some of their Imams.

It would be nice if all religions (Incl Islam) stood together to condemn this type of barbarity once and for all and re-iterate that peace and love are the only way to move forward.

Or am I being too idealistic....????

“So I thought 'OK, I don’t know what is going on here’ and he was covered with blood. I thought I had better start talking to him before he starts attacking somebody else. I thought these people usually have a message so I said 'what do you want?’

“I asked him if he did it and he said yes and I said why? And he said because he has killed Muslim people in Muslim countries, he said he was a British soldier and I said really and he said 'I killed him because he killed Muslims and I am fed up with people killing Muslims in Afghanistan they have nothing to do there.”

“He was not high, he was not on drugs, he was not an alcoholic or drunk, he was just distressed, upset. He was in full control of his decisions and ready to everything he wanted to do.

I said 'right now it is only you versus many people, you are going to lose, what would you like to do?’ and he said I would like to stay and fight.”

As someone else said...his point is perfectly reasonable and I can totally understand the reasonings behind it, but an eye for an eye never works and this is truly just as disgusting as what he is condemning.

Yes

[The soldier murdered in a terrorist attack near
a military barracks in Woolwich has
been named as Drummer Lee Rigby.
The 25-year-old, of 2nd Batallion the Royal Regiment
of Fusilliers, was killed in front of shocked onlookers.
Witnesses said he was attacked by two men with
a number of weapons, including knives and a meat cleaver,
while they shouted the name of "Allah".]
