RileyH 28-12-2018 11:21 AM

Black Dagger 28-12-2018 11:24 AM

I still love HMV. Love browsing. I still buy vinyl and blu ray. Gutting news and hope they can get out of it again.

Saph 28-12-2018 11:24 AM

2,200 jobs at risk as HMV on brink of administration

Yes --sad news if the final stores close

Jason. 28-12-2018 12:46 PM

I used to love going into HMV and browsing, you'd often come out with a film or box set that you didn't know you wanted.

It's kinda sad how streaming sites have taken over and everything is done with the click of a button now, there was something enjoyable about owning a physical copy and although I don't buy many any more, I still have my DVDs from like ten years ago.

My local HMV closed in 2011 though and now the closest one is in Oxford Street (which I'm not sure is still even open) so I get any DVDs and Blu-rays from Amazon or Zavvi now.

BBDodge 28-12-2018 12:49 PM

Very sad news. Hope it can be saved. Again.

Morgan. 28-12-2018 12:51 PM

Yeah, although it's just as easy for me to buy CD's and Vinyls from online - there's something still quite special about looking through the shop to find what you want, and buying it.

Matthew. 28-12-2018 01:02 PM

aw that’s a shame i like HMV

I love HMV, always in there when I'm out shopping and it's always busy.

arista 29-12-2018 09:45 AM

Anyone with HMV Vouchers should use them now
as although in admin they are still open.

Was just pointed out on LBC

Yes they are but at the same time people are buying alot of stuff online, if there's a dvd that HMV doesn't have then you can shop online for it .

Shaun 30-12-2018 04:18 AM

Great store but they are in drastic need of bringing up to date; their website and online services are frankly stuck in 2004.

There’s an ironic joke to be made here, I can feel it.

Alf 31-12-2018 11:08 AM

Amazon, Netflix and Spotify offer a better service at a better price.

This isn't a failure of capitalism, but rather capitalism working perfectly.

Tom4784 31-12-2018 04:16 PM

I love HMV, I use Netflix religiously but I do love owning physical copies of films.

Same, I've never seen our local one empty. I suspect there's a mismanaging of funds afoot if our experiences are commonplace since if all the shops are that busy then there should be profits.
