pro-independence Alba Party ahead of Scottish elections]


[Scotland's former first minister Alex Salmond
has re-entered frontline politics to become
the leader of the new pro-independence Alba Party.
The party was registered with the Electoral Commission
in January by retired TV producer Laurie Flynn.

Alba Party will have stand candidates in
the Scottish Parliament elections on 6 May.

Mr Salmond said in a
statement: "Today I'm announcing
the public launch of a new political force, the Alba Party.

"Alba will contest the upcoming Scottish elections as a
list-only party, seeking to build a super-majority
for independence in the Scottish Parliament.

new ideas about taking Scotland forward - giving
primacy to economic recovery from the pandemic

It will be interesting to see if voters in Scotland in any meaningful number now go to support Salmond's new Party.
A party in no way needed.

He may as well have crossed over to the Con Party.
As it's likely only the Cons both in Scotland and as the UK government currently will benefit, if Scots voters do head to this divisive action from Salmond.

We hear a lot that Scotland is never likely to want a Con led Holyrood assembly or particularly a Con UK government.

However, the only cause they'll be assisting voting for Salmond's Party is actually that very one.
Strengthening Johnson's determination against the SNP's positions.
While artificially building up possibly the Cons Holyrood presence too.

Very sad to see Salmond join the wreckers category of politics.
Although it will be interesting to see how the results do go now in the May elections.
