What advice would you give to your 16yr old self...
...I think this has probably been done before but it's hard to always think of new thread ideas...if you could go back in time and advice yourself of anything that maybe you would have liked to do differently or a general piece of advice of something that has worked for you etc..a kind of 'life rule' to follow..what would it be..?...

I got thrown off, then my legs trampled. It wasn't like the films, where people end up with super powers after animal encounters.
|

..would you have chosen a different career path then Caitlin or would you still have chosen to work with children..?..

I really struggled with the healing, as my legs were in a bit of a broken state for a while. I was off them for so long, that they were just too weak. |

Never assume you have in place all, or even most, that you believe to be right or the only way.
In my time at Uni over the last 3 years,I have seen and got involved with things and people that have completely altered my thinking as to certain things. (My Grandmother gave me the best advice when I was 13, it was keep an open mind on everything and try to accept that rarely is anythting black or white, there are always grey areas. I guess to myself and anyone aged around 16, if they wanted it, that would also be the advice I would give them). |
Lower your expectations.

Don't take Product design, take English instead.

You're going to get a ****-load of abuse from that group including death threats - be prepared.
(I'm 17 so there's nothing much else) |
Completely brushing over the argument about knowing the date of a loved one's death and whether or not you could save them... because frankly that's just too hard a concept to deal with...
I would tell my 16 year old self not to worry so much, that it's okay to be you, it's okay to study hard and be bit a bit of a nerd, that you're actually quite cool, despite what the other kids say. You won't always be gangley and skinny... you will grow into yourself and that in a few year time when you've finished uni you'll be able to visit the girl who led the bullying campaign against you at the checkout she works on. When you go, wear something fabulous, and take a minute to let her know that you've spotted alllll the weight she's put on. I'd tell myself to be wary of who I trust because people aren't always what or who they say they are. I'd also say that the winning lottery ticket numbers for two days after your birthday are: 8, 20, 26, 34, 42, 43 and the bonus ball is 25. |

That's the kind of advice you'd give to yourself the day before you turned 17.
