Do you text/phone someone when they're literally in the same house as you?

My step sister does this to her Mum and it's beyond stupid. Just sheer laziness.

What about you? :)

Firewire 09-02-2018 04:38 PM

My dad does but I don’t respond

me

Marches 09-02-2018 04:40 PM

I do sometimes and it pisses people off for some reason which I find funny

montblanc 09-02-2018 04:41 PM

no but my mom's done it to me like twice before :skull:

when i used to go to one of my friend's house him & his parents used to do it all the time & i thought it was strange

Babayaro. 09-02-2018 04:41 PM

Personally, I find it really ignorant. Especially when there's other people in the house.

Crimson Dynamo 09-02-2018 04:50 PM

the girls text me from their rooms as does the TL all the time if I am downstairs, or phone me

And what do you think about it?

well it saves shouting or having to go up so its fine. Often its the TL saying the dog is at the door and its shut or the girls saying "dad nutella toast and juice"

Babayaro. 09-02-2018 04:55 PM

It's utter laziness

RileyH 09-02-2018 05:01 PM

Yes

Withano 09-02-2018 05:04 PM

Rarely. I have done, I will do again. Shouting down the stairs is so impractical.

caprimint 09-02-2018 05:08 PM

Yes if it's in the same house, not if it's the same room

joeysteele 09-02-2018 05:52 PM

No, I'm always glad to put my phone on silent when home and only check it now and then.
Would never use it to phone/text in the same house nor would I respond to same either.

smudgie 09-02-2018 07:17 PM

Not text, however I message son or daughter on messenger if I want their attention, or a cup of coffee etc:blush:

Essentially the same thing

Daniel. 09-02-2018 07:38 PM

If someone is downstairs and I want them to like bring me up water or something if I know there coming up, otherwise no.

hijaxers 09-02-2018 07:42 PM

No its so lazy ! i do have people text and say they are outside cos i never hear the bell.

Crimson Dynamo 09-02-2018 07:42 PM

im in bed and someone is down in the kitchen and i want tea?

no, i will ignore 200000 years of cognitive technology and jolly well walk down stairs?

i have a big house

:umm2:

Underscore 09-02-2018 07:47 PM

Yes. I live in a big house and it’s better from straining my beautiful voice

Yes, but easier to type on the iPad for me.:joker:

user104658 09-02-2018 08:02 PM

If I get in late at night I like to shut the door loudly enough that she'll hear it and then message from the hall like "Running ten mins late, shouldn't be long!" for giggles.

Other than that nah. Unless it's to share a link to something funny I've seen online whilst sat on the toilet or something.

y.winter 09-02-2018 08:48 PM

No, that's quite funny though

I do find myself sometimes texting to my coworkers when we're in the same office - but it's either because it's easy to share technical issues or just private chat with my team leader. Still feels funny though

Niamh. 09-02-2018 10:34 PM

Rarely, only if I'm upstairs and I want to tell Gav to bring something up or something

Cal. 10-02-2018 10:06 AM

My mam does it all the time.

'Chinese? x' 'Fgs Cal turn that telly down you can be so selfish *angry emoji* xx' Sends me pictures of the dogs etc.

Smithy 10-02-2018 10:06 AM

It’s a big house, so yea

Crimson Dynamo 10-02-2018 12:52 PM

"dad, BIG bowl of cookie crisp and oj and send dogs up"

i got that this morning, it saves me going up or yelling

(i filled the bowl with packing peanuts and pretended to spill cereal all over her, worked a treat) :laugh2:

Gusto Brunt 10-02-2018 04:11 PM

Never. :D I think I have only texted about 7 times this whole year. Rarely use the smartphone either. :p

I usually find shouting it good. :p

Maru 10-02-2018 09:31 PM

I do, but it's usually for good reason, like either I am sick or I'm in my home office and can't afford the distraction. I literally lock my door so people can't just waltz in. Plus scares the living sh*t out of me when people walk up when I have my headphones on and I'm deep into something.

And I wouldn't even really call it texting. My husband and our friends use LINE, and it has a PC app, so I rarely use SMS. I'm much more likely to miss a real text actually...

Eddie. 11-02-2018 01:15 AM

No. I find it weird.
My house is pretty small so there's no excuse for that...

TwentyOneThrones 11-02-2018 01:20 AM

Yes bc movement is exhausting

GoldHeart 11-02-2018 08:57 AM

Sometimes but Not usually , it's funny though when in the same house :joker: .

Josy 12-02-2018 05:29 AM

Yes if I can't be bothered shouting
