well it saves shouting or having to go up so its fine. Often its the TL saying the dog is at the door and its shut or the girls saying "dad nutella toast and juice"

If I get in late at night I like to shut the door loudly enough that she'll hear it and then message from the hall like "Running ten mins late, shouldn't be long!" for giggles.

Other than that nah. Unless it's to share a link to something funny I've seen online whilst sat on the toilet or something.

No, that's quite funny though

I do find myself sometimes texting to my coworkers when we're in the same office - but it's either because it's easy to share technical issues or just private chat with my team leader. Still feels funny though
