Seaspiracy - Should we eat fish?
Netflix doco.
Basically we shouldn't eat fish at all because all current commercial fishing methods are completely unsustainable and are ruining the planet. How do you feel about the idea of eliminating fish from your diet? Spoiler for what was the "conspiracy" of the documentary is. Spoiler: |
We need to Reform how we Fish.

I don’t really eat fish anyway :hee:

I do think the problem is bigger than people really know... I was at a remote beach on Skye last summer (the type you have to trek to get to) and was absolutely horrified to find it absolutely COVERED in pieces of nets, ropes, mesh etc. ... and I mean covered, every square foot-or-so had at least some sort of debris. It looked like a dumping site. This isn't a beach that people regularly go to, the stuff hadn't been left there by people, and it isn't directly in a fishing area or anything... it's just that it's too remote for anyone to be there clearing up I guess... and all of it was stuff that had simply washed up over time.
Also there's a little beach we go to regularly that's, I can now see, clearly regularly cleaned up/"combed" in usual times because we've been going for years and it's always been pristine fine sand / a popular swimming spot but since Covid with it technically being "closed" - which i guess also means no one bothering to clean it up regularly - I took the dog recently and there's plastic debris everywhere. :umm2:. |
no-one will stop me eating fish

I like the idea of being a Pesce-Pescetarianism...

What do fish do for our planet that we would miss if we ate them all?

I saw some report suggesting that when all the ice melts ... the pure water is forming a new layer UNDER the salt water layer that is normally on the sea floor ... so all the animal / plant life DIES as they can’t survive let alone flourish in the pure/fresh water ... Sounds like we’re screwed basically given they say that the ice sheets / icebergs are melting at a ridiculous speed. :( Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
Would it be possible to feed these plankton when they reach old age, to cows. To make the cows fart oxygen?
|
Watch Cowspiracy too
|
So we need to keep the big fish alive that shake all the little plankton things to the surface...
So we need to feed the whales with fish, or seals or penguins. All of them need fish to eat, but mostly any fish will do for them...cod can be our fish. So we are safe in killing all the whales that eat plankton..yeah? |
I think it’s a bit shocking that they missed the title ConspiraSEA
|
I just watched this, like I said I don’t really eat fish anyway so :clap1: Kudos to me

I think we should just leave the sea alone, to be honest. We've already caused enough destruction on land.

[I used to pride myself on being sustainable': Dermot O'Leary - who
owned a seafood restaurant - clashes with creator of Netflix's controversial Seaspiracy documentary who says businesses like his are destroying our oceans] [The presenter, 47, argued that sustainable fishing is possible on Tuesday's This Morning - after owning his own restaurant, Fishy Fishy, in the past Dermot said: 'In those seven years, we never served cod as our fish and chips once. We served dogfish which you market as rock salmon, whiting and pollock' Filmmaker Ali Tabrizi disagreed with the broadcaster's comments as he declared: 'I think we need to be leaving your oceans alone at this point' Dermot's eatery in Brighton shut its doors in 2016 after nearly a decade, three years after its sister restaurant in Poole closed down The former Radio Two DJ's company was £238,000 in the red at the end of the last financial year before its shutdown The eye-opening Netflix programme documents the issues surrounding the multibillion-dollar seafood business and it's links with ecological catastrophes] This Link Contains a Photo Evil Scottish Culling Whales in a bay of Blood. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbi...-industry.html |
