Kate and Vanessa's travels...Liverpool and London baby yeah next

Update.

So we are off to Liverpool again, confirmed on the 11th December to see the Rock n Roll pantomime Rapunzel. Staying over at a lovely hotel by the Albert Dock. The Christmas Market will be on in the city centre. I'm so excited.

Next year in April I'm more than likely travelling to London, I wanted to go to Vanessa this time as she has travelled to me each visit so far. It is not set in stone yet as we'll need to assess finances after Christmas but it's looking quite possible atm.

The show in London we'd be seeing is called Now That's What I Call A Musical and it stars Nina Wadia (Eastenders Zainab) and Sonia (80s popular and UK Eurovision entry) It's all 80s music which we both absolutely love.

It's truly lovely to have things to look forward to.

I had a very disturbed night. Bad dream. I was on the Titanic and then I was in the water with no safety jacket! I woke up before I drowned phew!

Such dreams can symbolise that you are facing significant challenges or changes in your life. You may feel like you are "in over your head" with responsibilities or situations that seem unmanageable. These could include work-related stress, personal relationships, or major life transitions. The sensation of drowning in a dream can be a metaphor for how these challenges are consuming your energy and attention, making it difficult for you to stay afloat.

…I don’t know if any of that would apply…/…I was just reading it on a site…

Cherie 09-12-2024 05:44 AM

Exciting, never been to Liverpool ...

Kate! 09-12-2024 05:45 AM

It could apply yes Ammi. Not in a major way but yes it makes sense. I'm virtually running the household now, Karl's mum can't do as much as she used to so I take care of it all. Yes it's a challenge but I feel I'm doing well and yet it can be overwhelming a bit trying to remember and juggling everything.

Thank you xx @Pigeon Lady

Oh it's really excellent Cherie. Loads to see, huge amount of shops, street markets etc. If you look for deals hotels can be very reasonable and it has a massive library with exhibits, museums and a few Theatres. 3 train stations. It's an experience. And the Albert Dock with the ferry port and plenty of bars etc.

Could stay for more than 1 night easily and not get bored.

…I’m sure that you’re doing wonderfully, Kate…but everything doesn’t always have to be juggled…some things can be put aside and wait …self care is the most important thing, otherwise the overwhelming can just envelope it all…take time for yourself to make sure that you’re replenishing your energy levels…both physically and emotionally…Liverpool will hopefully help that a lot……

When my girl friends came last weekend they pointed out that trains go directly from Norwich to Liverpool so we might have to have a weekend away...:cheer2:

Yes an occasional break is lovely Ammi. I don't go for long but when I do Karl steps in. I'm lucky in that respect. I'm just so glad we still have his mum at 83 years of age and she's so lovely. I get on with her very well, she made me welcome from the start. I'd known her a couple of years before I moved in. We took her out in the wheelchair for the first time a few days ago when the weather was decent and she loved it. Life's.little pleasures.

Having a routine can help, a washing day, a food shop day, a cleaning day ... a day to yourself day

…living close to Norwich is just the best thing, isn’t it…it’s the gateway to the world, I’m thinking…plus lovely sparkly Christmas decorations/lights in the centre……

I tend to do a bit of all of those every couple of days and I do still manage some me time. I'm quite organised now I've been doing it for a while. Thank you Cherie for that. Routine is good. Ironing is the only chore I'm not fond of but I do it little and often to keep on top. The overwhelming part is mainly if we ever lost Joan.

…when my mother in law answers her phone…(…she’s in her 90’s…)…she always says…’hello darling, I’m still alive…!!!!!!’….Im glad that Karl’s mom likes her wheelchair, she’ll be able to be a part of so much more than she was before…

Yes, she didn't have much of a life when she couldn't get out anymore. Even taking stuff out to the wheelie bin is hard for her so I do all that.

Yes please do. Anytime at all. I'd love for you to experience the city. Have you ever been to Chester? Oh and in Liverpool they also have ChinaTown area.

…only two more sleeps to go now so focus on taking some time for yourself each of those days…just to totally chill, there are so many self relaxation things to try on YouTube, if you look…but make that a part of your routine for whatever time period you can…we don’t want a Titanic type drowning scene with you and Vanessa in Liverpool……seriously, take some time for you over the next few days and try to make that part of your routine going forward…

I will Ammi.

I'd just like to also say that I don't half appreciate the support I get on here from people, you and Cherie being two of them. It's lovely.

I feel I now have motivation to get up in a morning, usually between 5.30 and 6am to do breakfasts etc. There's always a chance for an hours nap mid morning. Before I lived here because I'd lost Josh I was alone and my time was hard to fill. When I was with Josh until 2014 I was depressed most of the time before I got sorted with medication and counselling that went back to Josh's dad and the abusive relationship and later my mums death. So I wasn't doing much housework etc and yes I probably emotionally didn't support Josh enough either looking back. He had to grow up so quickly. He did turn into a fine young man though so I must have done something right.

…I think that it sounds as though you supported him as much as you were able to at the time, Kate…it’s that self care again, isn’t it though…if we don’t preserve anything in ourselves, then there is little to give to others…as you say, your balance is there more now because you have your routine and focus more etc…but to try to think of it still as a ‘work in progress’ because the more that you have those other focuses in caring for others, than the more energy you need so more self care…it really is about keeping that balance…if you use more then you need more, you know…Liverpool and your time with Vanessa will really help, I think…have the best time and Vanessa is a great person to help that to happen also……

:cheer: I've been up half the night watching Coronation Street episodes I've missed. Just now cooked our breakfast and am having my first hot drink of the day and some bacon.

My bag is ready to be packed later. Clothes are ready.

Meeting Ness at 1.17pm tomorrow at Liverpool Lime Street station. My train gets in 10 minutes before so I'll be there to greet her.

Soooo excited. X

Lovely Karl is doing the shopping this morning so I can have the day at home. Love him. I did most of the chores yesterday, there's not much to do today except cooking.

I have half a bottle of rose wine that I'm going to drink tonight. I don't drink while we are away out of respect to Vanessa cos she's 100% teetotal. It doesn't bother me. :hee:
