Just an idea...

Ive seen this done in other forums, but just raising the point.
Ive noticed lately there are a lot of young members, some of the youngest ranging from 12 -13, and in the past we have had some quite old topics. Whats your views on having a +18 section? Where only over 18's can enter, where we can talk about older things like sex, and swearing is allowed.

If it was ever to happen, it will protect younger eyes and keep the older people happy. Obviously the section would have its own rules and there will be certain things/images that can't be posted just as respect.

Opinions?

Good idea, but wait until i am 18

I do not want to feel left out

Sam! 04-01-2009 07:01 PM

NO!!!! That would suckk. Do 15+. Thats so much better haha.

Matt08 04-01-2009 07:01 PM

Think it's a good idea, but maybe members over the age of 16 as that is the age of consent for sex etc.

Jen 04-01-2009 07:01 PM

I would like it... If I was 18..
Haha.

Ninastar 04-01-2009 07:01 PM

I think its a good but how can people make sure tht youger people dont get in it? They could lie about there age x

Ross 04-01-2009 07:01 PM

I've brought this up before and I'm sure Lauren and Linda have too.

I think it would be awesome, then I can freely talk about my genitals and not get criticized :blush2:... like a bit of the forum and have a password on it that only older member know?

But I think people would have to prove their 18 first, which I doubt alot of people would do. I'm up for it though.

Roll on the sexual convos.

See that was the one thing that I thought would get raised, this whole Clique idea and people being left out. But it can be frustrating when we can't talk about these things because of younger viewers. Even basic things like saying what we want to do to certain housemates haha.

What would be the point anyone can lie about there age on an internet forum.

Nicky. 04-01-2009 07:02 PM

It sounds good.. but us yungens' will feel a bit left out me thinks

Jen 04-01-2009 07:03 PM

I agree with Matt, I think 16+ is a good idea...

AngRemembered 04-01-2009 07:03 PM

Great idea Fom
I'd be happier in that and hey..happier still in an over ** forum wher we can discuss things like dementia and warts ect :joker:

In some cases though, it's better to leave the younger ones out if it's about issues like sex and other 'mature' issues. I doubt a 13 year-old's parents would want their child reading about explicit sexual things.

Lauren 04-01-2009 07:04 PM

It's got a few problems.

- How do people prove they're 18+?
- Might cause cliquey problems.

I guess to counteract the second issue it could be a rule not to discuss other members in the 18+ section (whether that be positively or negatively). Don't know about proving their age though.

Tom 04-01-2009 07:04 PM

Theres a certain someone .... waaaaaay older than most, who I've seen speak dirty to younger members ...

In theory an 18+ section would be good ... but how would we prove it? Anyone could just pretend to be 18 to get in

Spike 04-01-2009 07:04 PM

I like the idea but I would have it 16+

Thats true, but the section should not be visible to guests so when they join they have no idea about the section, then when you sign up. You shouldn't be able to change your age, and you can only get in the section once your age is 18.
If people create new accounts then they will get banned for having multiple accounts. And then if they get around with it, its their own fault if they see explicit things!

pinkmichk 04-01-2009 07:05 PM

i think its a really good idea i have seen it done on other forums and was done on the age when signing up although guess it is open to being abused a bit but not sure how to get round it
i think 16+ would work but then i personally think the age should be raised on here for the sign ups anyway

Fom 04-01-2009 07:06 PM

Oh and before you enter the section there should be a warning where you have to accept the terms and conditions. And warnings that if you get found you will be banned, or warned. We know how old most of the current members are, and if Mark banned the changing of the age before telling anyone. Then thats fair, and if anyone wanted to change it, they will need to photocopy ID or something?

Tom 04-01-2009 07:06 PM

LOL i love the under 18s attempting to get us to agree on a lower age limit :joker:

Ross 04-01-2009 07:07 PM

I'm sorry but I want to swear without being told off and I want to post a picture of my.... lmao I'm kidding.

But people don't have to state their age to join, it's optional. And what about poeple who don't want persoanl details like their age plastered across a forum?

I agree, Big Brother is aimed at the age range of 16+ anyway. Some of the issues that are discussed on here about Big Brother aren't really appropriate for younger people.

I think the age for signing up should be raised to 15.

Maybe it could be kept private from the rest of the forum.

Set a simple entry question like

Do you have your own asbo...

In this day and age only people over 18 will be a, too old to have gotten one as in there tearaway teen years they had'nt been invented.. or b, would be to old and ashamed to admit to it in public.

Only those under 18 would find it un cool to say no :joker::whistle:

Well that will take a bit of thinking to get around... maybe a private forum where you need to contact a member of staff. Then a password is given, or special rights?

AyeAye_xO 04-01-2009 07:09 PM

ah like the idea:). but 16+ is better x

hannah. 04-01-2009 07:10 PM

18+ is stupid, seeing as the main topics in question are about sex, which is legal at 16..

supernoodles! 04-01-2009 07:10 PM

yay for 18+ forum,sounds like filth,interesting

Right... I am only saying 18+ because thats the age of consent for watching porn and stuff. Just being safe, but I am sure we could stretch too a 16+. But it would be what the moderators felt was needed.

All this would help the forum go down in threads that people under this age should not be reading.

Sam! 04-01-2009 07:12 PM

Do the "Best Members" forum, and all of the regulars get to have a private forum and talk about sex and crap. I dunno. Or have a Sex forum. haha

Yes but ultimately if you were never to post in there/post in there it would give people an indicationd of your age.

A froum should be a place where you can post your opinions anonomusly and debate without anyone having to know anything about you. I'm not saying I don't want anyone to know anything about, but that is one of the properties of a forum.

That defeats the point, I am doing this to prevent young eyes seeing them. It would never go below 16, and I doubt below 18. You are all onl calling it stupid because you are below 18.

It's worth pointing out that internet forums are not made for children and Big Brother is a program which is aired after the watershed and often contains sexually explicit content.

If parents don't want their kids exposed to explicit content or conversations, then perhpas they should keep a closer eye on what their kids do on the net.

Which is maybe why the admins should higher the age limit so that young eyes do not see some of the content which is talked about on here.
