why are people saying olly was awful?

he was still really good, just not as amazing as usual
he was still better than a few people :conf:

Tom 15-11-2009 02:28 PM

because he was

LemonJam 15-11-2009 02:29 PM

I don't remember his vocals, just dancing.

I don't get it either Stef. I thought he was below par but still very good, considering he had a broken knuckle. The reason people think Lloyd was better than him was because Lloyd was given a song with zero vocal range all he had to do was trapse around the stage clicking his fingers mumbling the lyrics.

MarkWaldorf 15-11-2009 02:34 PM

because he's become too predictable and even his huge fanbase can't defend that performance. like i said a few weeks ago, those who peak too early may not go all the way because it takes one performance to win this thing (alex - listen etc).

Crimson Dynamo 15-11-2009 02:36 PM

he danced well but as Danny said he was drowned out vocally. just a bad song choice.

what does a broken finger have to do with his singing?

DrunkerThanMoses 15-11-2009 02:37 PM

I thought it was oaky.

I can completely defend that performance. His vocals were up to standard, he put on a show and with a broken knuckle which is more than can be said for some others. It wasn't his best but it was still a good performance.

Jords 15-11-2009 02:38 PM

First off, he was the worst out the lot of them last night, normally he is is better than Jedward and Llyod, but they upped their game.
Secondly his song choices are predictable and slightly tedious now, and hes only getting through because of all the dancing (which has become annoying) and maybe his looks, but girls tend to prefer Llyod I think?

Tbh Im starting to like Jedward slightly more, so bottom 2 should be Olly & Llyod, (Lloyd may not be better vocally, but is more versitile) with probably Olly going, but it wont be.

Chels 15-11-2009 02:38 PM

I was disappointed tbh :/

The performance usually comes about now- if Stacey can follow up her performance next week then shes won it

nothing. My point was that he still managed to put on a show and entertain with a broken knuckle while maintaining a good vocal which was unfortunately drowned out by the the music this week.

Double, maybe triple this.

If he was in pain, he should not done a dance routine, but hey, without dancing he would probably lose a lot of fans.

He was hardly crippled though, the knuckle is irrelevant imo

If you want real bravery you should've watched Laila on last nights SCD.

He should of been ace at that song, and he wasnt.

Lloyd gets the teenage girl while Olly gets the older ladies.

This versatile thing is totally unfair in my opinion. It was Simon's choice to take him down this retro route and him who has provided the songs every week. Olly's never gotten the chance to show versatility due to Simon's song choices. and to say Lloyd is more versatile when he has had the opportunity to try out lots of different styles and genres and failed at all of the is ludicrous.

As a Olly fan, I really want Simon to drop this 50s **** he keeps giving him and hopefully give him a ballad next week.

I'm not making out he's some great martyr I'm just saying it was another obstacle in his way.

and I don't. :P

Stephanie 15-11-2009 02:44 PM

Okey doke :joker:

I honestly dont think Olly is very versitile, hes a bit like Leon, only really good at that sort of song, poor at anything else. Llyod has tried out a much larger range, and although might not have been ace at them (some actually quite poor), at least he gave them a shot, instead of sticking him in his comfort zone, which deserves more respect than prancing around a stage every week (a bit like Jedward, but they go into acting a bit too, which is different).

If Danyl was allowed to dance, Olly would probably look bad compared to him anyway. I think Simon knows Olly is only getting through by dancing, so is not allowing Danyl to? Just a theory :)

They both have a monotone voice and make every song sound the same, yep I can definitely see the comparison!!
